Technical Mk2 1.2 16v HLX Dashboard turns on and off

Hi there having a problem where the everything on the dashboard is randomly turning off. Everything comes back on after about 3 4 seconds, but I would still like it fixed. The little clock and mileage display is flashing also. I did a little research first, and found people saying it could be an earthing issue. So I took the battery tray out and and tried to find the right earth point with no luck. Any help would be great. The year of the car is 2000.

if you look at the battery tray theres an earth in front of it
theres a more important one on the inner chassis rail in front of this behind the passenger headlight
it looks like a black plastic box and is a main earth
undo the 13mm headed nut clean bright the bits that will give good resistence and tighten the nut back up but dont shear it

i cant say this will cure your dash problem though

is it possible that someone has had the speedo head out and not put the loom connecter back on properly?

We found both of those and cleaned them. Would it be worth taking the cover off the black box on the one behind the headlight to see if anything is wrong inside?

ive had problems with punto power cable ends so yes it might be worth a look
just not convinced it is this though
thing is these fiats are getting on a bit so it could really be anything and not necessarily an earthing issue either

Ok so if i don't have any luck with that should i try taking the dash out. I didn't mention before but there is a kinda strange clicking noise which sounds like it comes from behind the dash.
