Anyone know if the mk1 Sei sporting headrests pull straight out, like they do on the cinq sporting seats?

Erm, I think so?

:-S

I took the back ones out the other day.

I think they do as i have seen them for sale seperately on ebay.

Either that or they used the removal method to get them out that was shown in the other thread

Well boys and girls - big progress has been made (y)

In a mere 12 hours the headrests will be going in the car... let me explain:

Bought a set of cinq sporting headrests (as previously mentioned).

Cleaned them up (were rather soiled from the rolled scrappy cinq I saved them from).

Cinq headrest stems are too thin.
Found some gas line piping designed for gas fires - a precise fit to use as a sleeve.

Approximately 6 hours ago I applied some epoxy resin to the poles on the headrests, and filled them to brimming on the sleeve ends.

Instructions state "leave for 12 hours to fully cure" - giving it a bit of leaway to make sure they are properly hard, before I do the test fit :D

Will hopefully also be another new addition to the sei tomorrow or tuesday in the form of my new wheels :D

Cant believe you bought cinq sporting ones they are pants, they wont match the seat pattern but still interested to see what they look like

Are the headrests still able to be lifted up and be pushed back down?

They're much more supportive than the Sei ones... especially for long journeys!
The ones I've got are just plain black - so they won't look totally out of place (y)

They won't be adjustable - but then I never raise mine anyway :p

Arent you compromising a bit on what little safety the car has? I mean you wanted to sell the car a while ago, imagine the car was bought by a tall person when the mod was done and they couldnt adjust it. Or you have a tall passenger? It wont be easy to turn back to standard as well.

Sadly i would never satisfy looks for safety so on that basis i am sadly against the mod (n):(

Don't particularly want to sell the car, just with all the money troubles I've been having, it seemed like the answer :p
Dead easy to turn back to standard - they just clip out in the same way the originals did, and I'm keeping my originals ;)

so if they just clip out arent they adjustable  and therefore not fixed?

i didnt know you had dyed them but still prefer the originals to that style of trim pattern

I haven't dyed them....

I pressuem they don't have the notches to hold them at varying heights. Could be possible to mod them further though :)

To be honest im not a big fan, but if they feel good, and your happy, thats all that matters really (y)

10 points! - they only have one notch to secure them in, I didn't see the point in making them Height adjustable due to the fact that I never adjust them anyway :p

If I'm honest, while I do like them for comfort on long journeys, I think they will be coming back out - the originals do look better, just such a shame that they are so far back! (might buy myself a cushion and elastic band, for motorways :p)

Can you not open a can o f whoop ass on the mk2 ones and bend them forward? ;)

Kristian

Lol, erm - not sure the poles would stand for a dose of whoopass - they're pretty rigid now that I've added the copper sleeve :p
