Yikes, things have just got a little exciting.
Collection of the panda is all arranged for the 25th November. Just in time as the seller has been told the developers move in end of the month and once that happens no access to the site will be allowed. 5 days is cutting it all a bit close!!
I will be so relieved once it's safely up here, there is no room for a slip up
Brakes might be seized by the sound of it too so I'll be bringing a can of WD40 and some grease as a backup plan! Will post up collection photos as I will be in convoy in the other rescued mk1 panda Qing Qing :slayer:

I think Chichi is going to get my attention next; the Marbella is nearing completion and the garage (aka chichi's home) is all tricked out now and ready for some winter restoration work! This one I am afraid will be moth balled for me to do in a year or 2 from now (unless it turns out to be in fantastic condition on it's bottom side!). The important thing right now is getting it out of the path of the developers!

Do you know any of its history as to hows its ended up in there for so long?Oh and a helpful suggestion I have some excellent music to be played when anything is being liberated from its place of rest.

The way I understand it is that the car was used as a power source for the design and test of alternators for wind turbines (hence the Greenpeace sticker
) So it was left in the workshop for that. Vandalism only occurred recently unfortunately although he has no idea when someone had cut the gear lever off! The guy has had a lot of bad luck including losing his wife, it's all such a shame. Hopefully something good can come of the whole thing though; I'm sure he will be very pleased that the car is to be restored (he didn't like the paint it brown idea though!) although he thinks I am mad for trying.As it turns out, my parents have found out I'm getting another one (had managed to keep it quiet for so long) so now begins the 9 days of nagging! Of course followed by many months of "you silly billy". haha.
Fingers crossed anyway!

Well tomorrow is the collection day, I think everything is all set (despite hearing stories of flooding that came close to the wee pandas current lair! )
Sounds like we'll be dragging her out kicking and screaming and sliding in the mud though with all her seized brakes! It's been her home for so many years after all. Probably picked the worst weekend to do this though haha!
I'll post up some juicy photo's tomorrow evening hopefully, watch this space

If not a road trip! I'll be bunging it under a car cover as soon as it arrives though so not a great hurry on it. It certainly isn't going anywhere, with buggered clutch, seized brakes, cut fuel lines and a buggered clutch amongst other things Let me know if you'd prefer to shift them sooner rather than later though or I'll PM you when I've got my head round this hair brained rescue plan!:slayer:

They can stay safely buried in my shed for now then. Last time I looked for something specific in my shed I found a GPZ1100 instead, spent six months restoring it and completely forgot what I was looking for.

Dilemma averted!! The next adventure begins:
Arriving at the old Fox Brothers site in Wellington:
The dragging out begins; we had to "oil" the brakes to get it moving though (picture quality was naff sorry):
Outside for the first time in around 20 years (if you can call where it was inside that is!
Some pictures of the place while I had the opportunity; firstly one of the old chimneys:

The quick blast up the M5 (getting odd looks with a white panda following a truck carrying a white panda :devil
Home sweet home!! And yes it has been fitted with a non original mk1 slatted grille (fantastic as I have been looking for this for so many years now!!)...
Original grille is in the back and will be re-fitted when the time comes:
Initial look is promising, she looks remarkably well preserved except for the odd bit here and there:
It has lost it's original seats but fortunately I have the old Marbella deck chair seats (same as mk1 design) so these finally have a home! Just would need to be re-covered in the right material I think:
Finally wrapped up for winter:
I am quite pleased, I don't think she'll need a huge amount of work but I say this after a very quick glance over before the rain arrived. The main thing is she's out of harms way! Restoration thread to follow in probably a reasonably long time from now

Famous last words! Well done for saving it, I reckon it might be abit more work than you think, they always are! Do you know when it was registered, I would like to know if it is older than mine or not.

Just an illusion I think; I had to tie the cover down each end to stop the wind blowing it all away. With no windows the car would fill up in this weather quite quickly!

I honestly think it'll look ok after a clean and some new windows lol. It isn't going through an MOT with just that I am sure though.
Drive wise, it's not all good being able to park so many cars on the property
no real excuses to say no to restoration projects haha!!
