Technical Mk.1 rear hubs

the manual says that if the rear hubs are removed / dismantled the bearings , nuts etc. have to be replaced.

is this really necessary if they are ok ? I just want to replace the trailing arms

anyway what I should have said was it it necessary to renew the bearings and nut everytime the rear hub is taken off ? as per workshop manual.

Nut, possibly. Its a one shot type. They are not expensive to buy.

I the bearings are in good enough order and don't spring apart when you go to change them over, then I would say no.
