General Missing radiator cap

hi,have lost my radiator bottle cap,am waiting for a new one,is there any way to seal the bottle,so i can use the car while i am waiting for new cap?

Simple answer, no.....

These tanks are pressurized, so not recommended using anything other than the correct cap for the coolant tank i'm afraid.

Depends much are you using the car and how far are you driving?

You can probably go a mile to a shop leave it for 20mins then drive the 1mile home

But i wouldnt drive it any further then that

The system is presurised due to expansion of water when heated
That pressurised water isn't able to boil as easily, as a result it can cause problems with potential overheating

Scrap yard for a spare to keep going - or just wait till new cap arrives

May i ask - where did yours go? they dont just dissappear, they have be left off and driven?

i stupidly forgot to put the cap back after topping up coolant,yeah i know!!!!
been messing around with cars for 30 years-first time for everything!!
got a loan of a cap last nite,will replace it during week,all good now!
