Missing memory?

Hey guys, my computer has been like this since i got it and modded it, on the vista welcome screen it says i only have 1.75gb of ram, i have 2x1gb corsair sticks in the pc. it came with onboard gfx but i replaced it with a 8800gts, and i disabled the onboard gfx in the bios and in vista's settings, any idea how i can get back my missing ram?

nforce 405, i tried one stick at a time before, 1024gb each
should use 256mb of ram as mobo has geforce 6100 onboard, but i disabled this so im stumped now lol

both processor cores are running faster than they should be as well i believe, 2.26 ghz? supposedly athlon 64x2 4200, yet in settings it says 5000+ for each core? computer is strange!

Mobo sounds a tad odd, go into device manager and delete everything there then reboot and let vista reinstall everything drivers wise so you can see if it's still an issue, IIRC you modded it yeah?

yeah, corsair ram, new gfx, new psu, new hdd etc, brand new pc i put it all in though, i deleted drivers and let it reboot, took ages and its still the same, might have to take it to someone to look at as that 256 of ram is useful with vista, im sure its the onboard thats taking it even thouugh its disabled as it seems a little suspicious that its 256 thats missing?>

Seems Vista reserves ram for GFX according to a few web posts.

Home premium, how can i tell it not to reserve ram? any ideas?

Going by limited research you cannot override this as the ram reserved is for GFX purposes re normal windows viewing so to turn off would be useless, you could always install Windows 3.1!
