Some woman tried to get me to join a union, she got arrested later that night and mental health people came for her too, she ran around the hotel part naked![]()
I wonder if that was intended as an incentive to join?

No, it's common sense. We don't get much of that but this is one instance.
I hope I'm never subject to your common sense then!
And you're still allowed to give positions based on a minimum age if you can prove it would be financially unviable, or be putting people at risk.
In the above case, it would cost millions for a company to change its insurance, so they are not forced.
Although IIRC you still need to be 35 to become PM, bit of a random age!

doesnt matter what you 'signed' for as it cannot overide a legal minimum.
you will be entitled to back pay as well.
is there no payroll and/or HR you can contact directly? on their todo lists i doubt you are high on the managers/A managers list
woah! this has moved on since i last looked!
still having no outcome yetmy boss is supposed to be speaking to the area manager about it but not heard anything back
its been almost 2 weeks now since i first pointed it out and ive had no outcome.
im not a part of a union unfortunatly. doesnt seem to be any in this business. and my pay was what i originally signed in my contract in august. but that was supposed to be reviewed after 3 months and wasnt!
really peed off!![]()
An exception thus meaning that the age discrimination law does not contradict the other...LOL.
The law allows for justified age discrimination, which the DTI is happy is correct in the minimum wage discussion. As an exception, it's part of the law.
"One can not be discriminated against their age except if....". Almost all laws have exceptions and this one is no different.
Pot kettle....
How in the world can you make such a reply considering your previous post?
Dont think its been put in this thread yet, but call this number.
0845 6000 678
The government takes a dim view of employers not paying minimum wage, beacause that means they cant tax you as much!
Oh an by the way, the laws do contradict each other, they just quote exceptions in they way they are written. However for you and me on the face of it, they are making one rule for one, and another for another.
