Has anyone heard of or used this ???
Apparently it was used for lubricating firearms during the gulf war!! but is supposed to be damn good in engines also..

MILITEC-1 is a chemically reacted Synthetic Based Metal Conditioner that protects metal with a constant, impregnated molecular bond. It works within the molecular structure and micro pores of metal and non-metallic surfaces of firearms. Traditional lubricants temporarily bathe and coat the metal surfaces and create a film between all metal parts.

I would be interested to know as it dosn't seem to be available direct from the UK, but can be ordered from above in NZ...

Re: Re: Militec 1 Engine Conditioner

The simple answer when it comes to oil additives is NO.

You NEED a certain amount of friction in an engine. If you start adding stuff like that militec crap you will end up destroying your engine.

Without a certain amount of friction, the oil control piston rings don't work which lets huge amounts of oil into the cylinders and then thats it really.. bye bye engine.

Slick 50 is actually lumps of PTFE. You might as well put a handfull of sand in your engine as it bungs up all the little oilways. 1.4's have issues with camshaft lubrication as is and Slick 50 will just help to kill it quicker.

If you have a 200,000 mile smoker and want a quick sell then use this stuff. Otherwise leave it well alone.

Ask yourself this, if it was so good, why is it not in the oil already and why do no manufacturers recomend it?

Yea..but read the link on this stuff it ain't the same as slink 50...

Re: Re: Re: Re: Militec 1 Engine Conditioner

MILITEC-1 is a clear golden synthetic liquid resembling SAE 10-weight oil. When MILITEC-1 is added to the primary lubricant of any machine, it will increase operating efficiency, extends equipment life, reduce downtime and cut unscheduled maintenance.
Even though MILITEC-1 is added to the oil, it is not an oil additive. MILITEC-1 contains no viscosity enhancers or other oil augmentation compounds. It does not modify the primary lubricant in any way. Instead, MILITEC-1 is a metal conditioner. MILITEC-1 simply uses the circulating oil as a means to reach the critical hot spots and metallic friction surfaces within the machinery. When the oil carries MILITEC-1 to these areas, MILITEC-1 exits the oil, leaving the oil completely unaffected and unchanged.

seems to be going out on about guns and knifes to me!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Militec 1 Engine Conditioner

I did not say that crap was the same as slick 50. I was merely pointing out that slick 50 is a bottle full of lumps of PTFE.

As I said before, you WANT friction in your engine. If you add that militec crap you will remove the friction from the places it is needed and your engine will quickly die.

An engine is VERY VERY different to a gun. In the places where friction would be bad in an engine (main bearings, cam bearings etc..) you NEVER get metal on metal contact anway! Thats why you have oil under pressure feeding the bearings. Your cranshaft bearings are hardended steel running in lead/tin alloy bearing shells. If there was actually metal on metal contact they would wear in minutes.

When your engine is running the metal of the crank never touches the metal of the bearing shell. This metal conditioner would be truly pointless.

No racing cars use this sorta stuff, no car/engine manufacturer recomends this sorta stuff, no oil manufacturer bothers with this sorta stuff.

from the link above:

Briggs and Stratton, renowned builders of some of the most durable engines in the world, says in their report on engine oil additives, "They do not appear to offer any benefits."

thats good enough for me!

Nuff said!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Militec 1 Engine Conditioner

Cheers Tom...Wasn't 100% convinced with the stuff hence the posting on this site..shall save my pennies now for something more interesting

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Militec 1 Engine Conditioner

There are a number of such things on the market. For a gun I don't doubt that it works but its not an engine.

ZX(something) in a blue and yellow bottle is similar. Slick 50 is just nasty and I've seen all sorts at car shows.

In gearboxes they work, you have no pressure feed and there is metal on metal contact. Thats why you have to put EP oil into gearboxes and it already has this sorta stuff in it! (thats why it smells funny)

In engines they are pointless or worse, dangerous.

Just use a synthetic engine oil lah.

Thanks,
