Have you checked alternator voltage yet ?

Hi
This is an old issue ..Its needs proxy alignment ,or as I say the computers have had a fell out with each other.Though I had my grande from new for 8 years and the milage would occassionally flash ,don't worry about it ,all will be fine the next time you go in the car..Not an issue to worry about ,as even if you get a dealer to carry out the alignment, you may still get a flashing milage occassionally If you search it on here ,there are a few threads on it

No this is not normal. There is a problem if you have to register again and again devices in ECU to stop mileage flashing.

In most cases it's alternator/battery/cable related problem.

I never said it was normal ,I said it isn't anything to worry about ,it does not affect the vehicle behaviour in any way shape or form ,and sorts itself out ..If you are happy to pay a dealer to carry out a proxy alignment then that is fine ,but chances are it will at some stage reoccur

I have done a proxy alignment via snap on solus pro before but I am sure it has something to do with battery as I have used an elm type device to read data and when I cleared code and left the unit plugged in for a week ir so so it must use dome power the mileage flashed unless it is just cheap unit

Battery is coming up 7 year old so it's done well I have removed and cleaned and cleaned terminals. I removed the top and looked at the electrolyte but I don't know where the level should be it covers the wavy type cells but there is a bit that looks like it is from terminal to terminal and I don't know if that should be covered too?

The electrolyte should cover the lead plates..When I sold my Grande this year it still had the original battery and it was 8 years old .I'd owned the car from new ..I'd get the flashing milage twice a year ..and in the 8 years I had it roughly 3 times the dash gave up ie no gauges etc ,but after a couple of hours it all would come back...I couldn't say how good other tools are at carrying out the alignment ,so I can't comment on that ..All I can say is fiat have a couple of little tricks so you need to go to them ,one being the alternator unless you get a genuine one,the warning light stays on even though the none original will charge the battery ok ..Generally if the battery is affecting the ecus that much then it wouldn,t start to be honest ..If the battery can start the car then it will more than capable of running a couple of ecus

Bosch Me ecu series (7.6.3 / 7.9.10 tjet sjet etc) are very delicate and sensitive when it comes to battery or alternator.

The software in those ecu's must read always a correct voltage value.

Yes battery will charge fine if you install a 3rd part alternator even if there's an error. Is this fine ? No it's not. A wrong D+ voltage could cause a lot of weird problems even if you can charge or even read a correct B+ voltage.

There are no ''tricks''. It's the software designed to be like that.

/offtopic

Avaxbox, you found the problem already. Replace battery and make sure your alternator is working fine. ( this applies in your other thread also @ high idle )

I told you there's a voltage problem ;)
