Today was a bit of a mile stone for the twinair was wondering what sort of miles are out there in panda world on the twin airs
That’s absolutely brilliant and they said a twin air can’t do many miles outstanding
Well I've only done 3k of those but it runs exactly as it should. That’s absolutely brilliant and they said a twin air can’t do many miles outstanding
Like most cars - ignore the extended service periods, keep changing the oil and filter. That’s absolutely brilliant and they said a twin air can’t do many miles outstanding
Its true the engine has a limited life span. All this rot was started by testing that took place back when it was new. They ran a TA at max revs until it broke. It broke up at 125,000 miles being run at 6000 rpm. This developed into the story of short engine life. The TA unit may be a little delicate but if serviced and treated with a little care .one would expect the engine to do long service. I just wish parts were available for the uniair thing instead of its being a disposable item.Congrats on the high mileages! Definitely showing the folks like me who would have doubted the TwinAir's longevity, that with good use and maintenance, they can go as far as any engine! Engineering / engine design is something the Italians have down. I'd love to see one of these with a 1.2 FIRE 300k mileage, I'm banking on you guys to keep us updated!
I suspect that given the inclination the UniAir module could be serviceable - certainly seals and the like. My understanding is that it is essentially a servo-hydraulic valve which likely includes some piezoelectric devices to trigger and control oil flow in a closed loop control system. Such systems require scrupulous cleanliness during assembly and the controllers are likely relatively expensive which would make DIY an unlikely proposition. Its true the engine has a limited life span. That is first class anymore photos tell us a wee bit more how long have you owned it
I've done 110k or so miles in it since getting it in 2017 with 70k on it. I do a lot of motorway miles and fitted a cruise control kit. That is first class anymore photos tell us a wee bit more how long have you owned it
I can’t believe it runs on Asda oilI've done 110k or so miles in it since getting it in 2017 with 70k on it. I do a lot of motorway miles and fitted a cruise control kit.
Its done well in that time, except for the clutch - it is now on its 3rd (130k then 175k). Its needed a turbo (130k) and an alternator (135k) and a coolant tank (155k) but everything else has been standard service and wear items (shocks/suspension arms/engine mounts/brakes/exhaust/battery/tyres/plugs/etc).
It snapped both its handbrake cables too when i stopped on a hill last week!
I do an oil+filter change every 10k (or close to) where it gets the cheapest 5w40 fully synth i can find (frequently the Asda one!)
