Technical Mild Hybrid..?

Technical Mild Hybrid..?

We have bought a 500 hybrid as a second car. Got a great deal on a 25 plate pre reg that we couldn't really turn down.

It's no race car that's for sure but it does drive better than the figures suggest on paper.

Not had it that long so can't comment on long term reliability but it copes absolutely fine with the hills in Sheffield where I work. It's a 50 mile round trip from home to work and back and it's more than up to the job.

Not sure I would want to do really long journeys on a regular basis in it, the ride can be a bit choppy and it does find every imperfection in the road, but that could just be me being used to driving bigger vehicles. Our Hyundai I30 is definitely a smoother ride, in fact I dare say our Ducato based motorhome is 🤣🤣🤣

It's economical enough. It's north of 50mpg which for a car in and out of Sheffield is really not bad.

I like it. It probably wouldn't have been my first choice of small car were it not for the deal we got but it is definitely growing on me. Its not the quickest off the mark but you can keep the speed up and chuck it into corners and roundabouts so it feels more fun to drive than the figures suggest.

My commute is 3 x that,

The FIRE motor does ok until you get to a hill,

I am looking for the ECO button, to release that extra oomph, but of course it's not there

The ONE thing the Firefly may be good at, lowdown torque

The OLD 60 hp FIRE, was better than the modern 69 VVT where I want it
(thanks @jrkitching)

Of course, driving our 85hp twins
( with turbo) is a Totally different experience

I would personally be looking at a lot bigger car for a daily drive of 150 miles plus!

Yep, sure is. Buying the twinair, was just luck for me, at the time knowing nothing about fiats, except I wanted a 2 cylinder engine. But wow, its the greatest fun I've had in a small car..

Its ok if you live in the country with your own driveway! not so good if you have a top floor flat somewhere when it becomes chocolate fireguard time.
Indeed, 🙂

No reserved parking for me,
that means it's paid for Charging

And the figures for that just don't work
🫩🫩🙃

Balsall Common,
there's some memories.. 😉

What does it for me is that with ECO & S/S engaged, I can potter about like a geriatric, with pretty good fuel consumption, or knock them both off, and do neither of the previous. It can go round corners on two wheels and stop on a sixpence.

Ok, so no, it can't compare to bigger beefier cars, but then it doesn't cost as much as they do.
