Migration Authority Code Problems

Ok, I have asked for my MAC (Migration Authority Code) from Orange Broadband so that I can switch.

First of all they said it would be 48hrs and would be sent via post and e-mail.

A waited a week so rang them back up again. They said the Computer had gone potty and they had asked to resend the mac to me. I then waited another week and rang up again they said give it till Monday (just gone) and guess what still no MAC.

I have waited 3 weeks and they said I could cancel then order from my new supplier once the line has been cancelled.

This would be then another 2 week. 1 Week to cancel the line and another week for the new supplier to set up the line.

Any one have any clues what I could do??

The law has changed about this I think.

They are now liable for a fine if they don't give you the MAC within 5 days.

Ring up and demand it.

On the third phone call they just said that 2 orders have been done for me for the MAC. Keep saying their not sure why they have not come through yet.

Wasn't sure if all the Migration Codes were ordered from one central place for all companies or if the Codes given were done by the provider, in my case orange.

Supposing your line provider is BT, they have to contact BT for it.

BT actually connects and does all of the other broadband related stuff.

They have to contact BT for a MAC.

BT could be having problems.

I have been with them for nearly 3 years. The only reason I am changing is because to slap my xbox online and I have found a better deal with BT internet.

I am paying £17.99 for 1mb line and no extras.

I can get 4mb line plus free wireless unit and phone for £26.99 plus I can get a free wireless card for the 360 worth £70.

Just need this stupid MAC so that I can do it.

hey bru i work for SKY and as you know we have launched SKY broadband when i left aol they were draging there feet then i demanded to know who there regulator body such as ofcom as soon as i said i was going to complain to ofcom i had my mac code within about 2 days good luck

As soon as they came on the phone I asked to speak to a manager then I with a few security questions, got my Migration Code their and then over the phone.

It's amazing what that magical word (manager) will do

Very True.

I'm just glad thats its all sorted now.

New Wireless Router along with Phone comes thursday.

I have also cancelled the Direct Debit. just never know if they will try and continue to take the money out.
