Right im having a mid ice crisis  , im currently running,

2x 1200watt sony subs
2x alpine mrp350 amps 700watt each
2x power caps
custom box

im gettin rid of this and starting fresh

but i dont know what to go for :( :(

I have been looking at different options, i dont really want a big custom install i dont really want spl competition standard. i want something that is still gonna make me proud of my system.
I wouldnt mind an alpine theme but the cost is a bit pricey.
I do like the alpine type x sub but could settle for 2 alpine type r.
Has any body seen the 3000watt pioneer subs? any advice

Sorry about the length of this post but im really stuck as to where to go and what to do, any help is more than welcome.

Thanks.

Get an RE sub. You will not be dissapointed will put the alpines to shame in sound quality and still be very loud. I absolutely love mine. Heard one of the type r subs just didnt sound all that good at all in comparison.

But the RE gear is not cheap your looking at £230 or so for one of the lower end ones which is 600w RMS. Howver if you can find an XXX second hand for £200 or so snatch it up! 2000w RMS and one of the best SQ subs around as well.

Powercaps arent worth having. and 1 decent amp is better than 2 cheaper small amps. Those alpine amps only put out around 300w RMS each so really not that powerful. And sonys figures are rather out there as well.

How much you wanting to spend?

Cheers wozza, subs im intrequed by these pro plus subs but would i want one or 2, i know bass is all about moving air so 2 is better than one in theory :chin: amp wise im looking around £250 to spend i think, any suggestions?

2 x 12" ROCKFORD FOSGATE p3s huge mono block bingo you win :worship:

nice easy simple and louder than most(y)

What car is it going into?
Do you want quality, or all out bass, or maybe a bit of both?
What's your budget?
Are you limited to space (i.e you need to use the boot on a day-to-day basis, or you want a full boot install?)

LMK and i'll come up with a few ideas for you (I used to work in a car audio shop :D )

Cheers

hey hgt20v, thanks, im not really looking for a boot build but want deep rolling bad bass, would like 12" sub and mono block. budget around £280 on the amp and £200 on sub but im open to suggestions such as having two subs that will work as good as one big 3000watt sub (y)

You mean this one Dave? :) That is 1000WRMS. WRMS is the only wattage worth talking about - max wattages (in this case 3000W) are totally worthless (y) Would be fine for a bit of bass - won't be a so good in terms of SQ compared to the RE stuff.

This is the RE sub that Wozza was on about http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=2962 Personally, I think it would be a good buy :)

You could also get JL stuff within your budget - you won't go far wrong with that either :).

Amps...............

If you went with the RE sub, you want about 700W RMS @ 2ohm due to the RE sub being dual 4 ohm (i.e. showing the amp a 2 or 8 ohm load).

You could have...................

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=3266 (might be pushed a bit)

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=4507 (should do the job fine)

Then there's this - http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=4132. It would push the RE sub a fair bit, perhaps a bit too much :chin:. May be ideal for the Pioneer sub come to think of it...........

Personally, I would go for the RE sub and the third amp I posted - your budget will just cover it :D

Don't forget you will need 0 gauge cabling and a sturdy enclosure whatever you go for ;)

HTH
