One at the top is memory already in my pc, one below is the one I bought, bought 2 sets as told my pc needs matched pairs, guess what I can't get the pc to work at all when I install this stuff, take it out and its fine.
So does this mean it not compatable. NOt sure what DIMM means on second one. NO jokes please....
Not very pc savy
If it helps I got one of those Aldi pc, Medion Titanium MD8383 XL.

So what happens when you put the matched pair in? Does the PC even boot? Any POST beeps?

Try just one of the new sticks by itself, then try the other.

It may also be a setting in BIOS.

Also, try removing the other old one - how many slots do you have on your mobo? You may need to use the right ones to get matched pairs working right.

Tried just one stick, same thing happens, goes into the srceen where it ask start in safe mode etc, whatever I do just keeps going back to safe screen.
I've got 4 slots on mobo two green two blue, tried various combos but still the same.
Apparently my mobo is Microstar ??
I thought it maybe something to do with the stick being Dimm, the chips on the original mem' stick are twice the size.
I don't know how to adjust/set BIOS ??
Cars I know about pc I don't.
Cheers for the help..

Ok, had a look and you definitely need matching pairs on that mobo.

I would presume you put both sets into either the BLUE or the GREEN slots, to get the matching.

DIMM just means dual inline memory module, so don't worry about that.

Where were the original sticks? In the same slots?

  • Maximum Memory: 4096MB
  • USB Support: 2.x Compliant
  • Graphics Support: PCI Express x16
  • Standard Memory: 512MB removable
  • Slots: 4 (2 banks of 2)
  • Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.
Q: Will my system recognize the maximum upgrade?

A: Possibly How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS. More information about OS memory maximums can be found at http://www.crucial.com/kb/answer.aspx?qid=4251.

Q: What memory goes into my computer, and will a faster speed be backward-compatible?

A: DDR memory with support for DDR PC3200,DDR PC2700,DDR PC4000 speeds. Because DDR memory is backward-compatible, you can safely upgrade your system with any of the guaranteed-compatible DDR speeds listed below, even if your manual calls for PC1600 or PC2100 speeds.

Q: How much memory can my computer handle?
A: 4096MB.
Adding the maximum amount of memory will improve performance and help extend the useful life of your system as you run increasingly demanding software applications in the future.

Q: Do I have to install matching pairs?

A: Yes. Your system requires

My inital steps would be this.

  • Make sure you are running the latest service pack on your OS.
  • Make sure your BIOS has been flashed to the latest version.
  • Go into your BIOS and reset it to "Optimised Defaults"

If the above steps do not work, try the RAM in another PC.

I tried alot to get this memory working, but everytime its installed pc just won't work. After checking on the net I'm lead to believe my mobo is a Microstar ms 7091, which is not listed on there site, so when I try to update BIOS, it cant do it.
I've no idea how to get into BIOS settings etc.. and what to do.
Give me a broken down Fiat anytime.

Is this the Motherboard?

Have you tried using the pair of purple / green next to each other rather than green pairs and purple pairs?

Which slots were the origional RAM sticks in before you took them out?
