It's all configured in the LC1. By default output 1 simulates a narrow band, output 2 is wide band output....BUT...it's best to reconfigure the output anyway to a different AFR range (y)

Also there is a newer firmware, 1.1, available that you could try :) I run it with no problems....a few say its too sensitive, but no probs here.

started my loom today going to be working on it all week till its running as i need to get the car mobile again (been stood for 6months in mates garage) so far im just trying to find as many different colours of wire possible and soldering them to the 37pin connector done about 20 so far even heatshrinked each indvidual wire, tomorrow going to finish hunting around for colours and start to build my loom on the engine, ive dismantled my old loom also got a corsa loom and punto loom for more wires lol

Im hoping it will start first time, but as many people on here have done, doesnt seem to run first time lol will have to see :)

the Carbon canister thing how does this wire up? or is it not needed any more?

fook the cannister. mine and all the associated gubbings are on my garage floor lol. Just pop a little hole in the filler cap to releave tank pressure as the cannister and purge valve used to do that. I even removed the fume pipe all the way back to the filler, to make it look neater :)

If you need any extra wire, connectors, solder or help, I'm not too far away and can give you a hand one evening in the week maybe (ie. tomo or thu night)

After learning from this current install, it's gonna be pretty easy a second time.

you using a relay box or not?
you build it yourself?
is it on the boosted setup?

lol i was actually about to pm you asking that once set up if you could give me a heads up on how to tune this, i have a serial straigh through 5m cable and a laptop.

my ecu was built to order from bill, its a MS2 v3board with boost control, tach out, controls stepper, dual coils, he even pre programed it using a map that him and Asteris configured so said it might run right away or with little tuning.

im good with electrics and computers but with this its like learning a whole new thing

gimmie a few days if i get stuck ill mail you, ill give you a drink if help is needed :)

oooh so excited been about 6-7months since i last drove my car since then ive had a Cinq, and 2 vans lol hopefully this one should last longer then 1000miles

hehe, cool :)

the boost side will be totally new to me, but as long as its off boost tuning will be the same :)

I run no kind of IAC or stepper, neither does arc, and its fine even on these cold mornings, so thats something that can be held off to save time and additional tuning effort. They can be a little tricky to setup i've read. I'd worry about it once it runs well personally.

Dual coils? You mean the two wasted spark coils that are stock? Thats easy enough driven by the VB921. Just double check MS is set to spark inverted before you turn it on with the coils attatched! Otherwise you may burn the vb921 and coils out

All the other wiring though, is generally pretty easy as long as you trace and label everything first. You just get a bad back leaning over the bay for so long :p

i cut of the ECU connector from the loom and just soldered them in. That way you don't have to make whole new loom up. Of course you'll have a few extra components to wire in.

I used the stock P75 spark map for mine, haven't touched it, even on the 1.4. VE tuning is VERY easy if you have a rough idea of a map and a wideband. Set it up right, edit a few configs, and start autotune, and you'll map it in no time :)

Do you know i have watched this post with huge interest with the thought that maybe one day when i had my own Cinq Turbo I could do this and really optimise it!

Then i read the following intro

"In general, the MegaSquirt® Controller is not designed to be a 'no hassle' solution. Instead it is intended to be an educational process. As a result, a large amount of reading and study is required"

and realised that the MF2 isn't that bad after all, at least it is a proven way of screwing your pistons

Geek comparison... Linux or Windows.

bah..you get out what you put in :p

I am a unix g33k hence why i opted for the self build, and do stuff never tried before route....was a long job but well worth it.

Buying a pre-built unit is gonna be no different than installing any aftermarket ecu though, the bonus being the MS is designed to be easier to self map due to its intended audience.

I think for £3-400 you could get a MS intalled, with a WB setup, in a day, and running pretty sweet on the second day if you just do a bit of reading :D and you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself :)

I totally understand its not for all though.

Haven't looked any futher than my previous post but....

if someone gave something i could plug into in place of me ECU after giving them details of what i had and wanted even if it cost a couple of hundred quid more and it worked then I might be tempted.

but...... i have seen yours and others tribulations at installation and MOT time. Sometimes more money upfront for a more commercial application could make more sense espaecially in the engine unfriendly turbo world.

If and this is a big IF i leave MF2 it will more than likely be DTA (as i know guys using this on Jap stuff) or Emerald). or........ i could just burn the cinq and buy a new gearbag for the Lotus

Im a mechincal fitter, and use big hammers:D God knows why i opted for self build, well the opertunity was there so i grabbed it, still waiting for it to turn up tho:rolleyes:

right on the bottom of my Squirt it has 2 stickers

MS2 v3
MS Extra 1.0.2
IGN A Pin 36
IGN B Pin 3

Tach Out SPR3
Boost Out SPR4

where are spr3 and 4? i see them on the Board but which pins do they come out at? anyone answer this for me within the next hour as im now stuck and cant go no futher with it.

cheers

you have a different ECU, MS vs MS2.

the fiat engine does not have a FIDLE valve, you can beef up the ECU round there to control a PWM idle solenoid but you don't have one of them either!

You do have a stepper motor though, and with MS2 you have connections for that. which diagram are you following?

im following the one on ms website

http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/v3ext_wiring.gif

its more or less the same as the ones daves done just cros referencing them to make my own loom so far i got this:
