I asked before, does anyone has any 8V FIRE ignition map to start with?

Doesn't seem to be, and there doesn't seem to be much done in the way of fiat in the msquirt forums.:( One person claimed to be running msquirt. I asked for his map and he asked for bills address to buy msuirt from

Ok, here is the Punto75 ignition map:

Might be a little wrong at the exact RPM and load scale, but it should be close enough to start with.

The hall vs vr question is answered here in an email to Bill from Asteris. No I didn't intercept it ;) Bill forwarded it to me when we were trying to sort the cabling

quote

Rpm sensor is the same throughout all small Fiat models, it's B54 on diargrams and connect to the same pins, 11 and 28 of ECU. I asked my mechanic and he said it's just a coil inside, so it should be a VR sensor. When i changed from 1.1spi to 1.2 mpi, i kept the same sensor which works fine till today. It is a 3 wire setup, but one pin is connect to the shield of the cable. :

Sound about right?

bit confused with models of the ecu here....

basically i need one that does everything like the 4 wire stepper motor thing you lot are on about and the 60-2 tooth crank sensor thing also one that uses original fiat coil packs ect....

theres this one v2.2 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Megasquirt-V2...yZ122139QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

or this one v3 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Megasquirt-V3...yZ122139QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

was looking at omex but cant shell out £500 on one for a seicento :\ seems to pricey just want somthing thats more better mapable then standard ECU with piggyback fuel injection as going to convert my turbo seicento highboost into MPI

Yes it is confusing when you first look around...

Asteris is using megasquirt 2 - the latest version, this supports icv (stepper).
Arc is using mk1 with v3 board you'll need a stepper conversion but there is a way round this. Arc went the relay board route.
DtT (me) is using megasquirt 1 with v3 board but trying to wire into the existing relays via the looms.

Forget ebay - just do a search under megasquirt and read, read, read. You can get everything you need for under £275 and it will be built to your specifications. Hope that helps

thanks for the info re the sensor dave. 99% sure that is how i wired it, but i can't find my wiring diagrams atm (i really hope they're on the laptop, else..uh oh!)

did you mention earlier that Bill is making up some stepper ICV control boards? cos one of them would be handy. I'm just gonna plumb it up atm to idle with the throttle plate open slightly for now though i thijnk.

Dave mentioned in my thread that he wasn't sure if the crank sensor was VR or Hall Effect.

The below is taken from the Bravo 1.2 16v documents, and is clearly a VR type sensor.

I'm sure i plugged the bravo one into the Sei ECU as well, so I would presume they are all VR type across the FIAT range.

Hope this helps a bit (y)

Another one from the 2000 bravo manual :)

V2.2 and V3.0 refers to PCB design. Avoid V2.2, it's the old one and has many EMF interference, that' why V3.0 was redesigned from scratch with 4-ply PCB layers and signal and power routes separated.

MS1 and MS2 refer to the main processor. MS1 is a chip, it's 8-bit, 8MHz and cannot directly handle 4 pin Fiat IAC idle motors. It has lower PWM resolution, slower rs-232 connection but it's enough for most applications.

MS2 is a the newer processor board, 16bit, 24MHz, IAC ready and 0.001ms resolution. Recently it became capable of handling wasted spark too. Its small disadvantage is that 4 of the output pins are dedicated on the IAC stepper motor, so only 3 pins left to handle boost control, launch control, shift light, nitro etc. This will be no problem, when expansion board will be available in the near future, so extra I/O will be available.

Arghhhh I was so scared of losing my diagrams that I put them in three different places, one was on here but I can't remember where the other 2 were

Connected mine up today and tried it out, managed to get it idling at one point. Everything lit up OK and the readings on the megasquirt made sense. Looks like its going to work(y) Ouch, I might have been a bit brave with that last statement.;)

I'm going to try a Bosch idle valve.....sod the stepper. Um maybe not :tempt: I'll probably change my mind on that though. I'll ask Bill what the situation is.

Are idle valves those horrible things always breaking in fords, that make the revs go really high at idle?? Think I'll rather try and get the stepper running :D

Kristian

Yep :) Mind you if you have a stepper go its worse .....damned if you do, damned if you don't

Looks like we can make megasquirt work though (y)
