I just had to laugh at how B&M has been operating today.

I have not used the media player bit a lot before today, took a new USB stick with several albums on to it yesterday. In the evening I got the flashing mileage problem mentioned elsewhere.

Rang fiat to arrange a proxy remap (as suggested here) but they said it was not covered under warranty (WTF!!???).

Anyway, started the car today and the problem had gone, no flashing & SW controls worked again.

So, forward a bit and am out for a drive/shop with the wife and I showed her the media player. When she wound the window up the radio went to playing the media player (American pie), when I turned the radio off - starting the car later it came on playing the above track for a short period then went off.

Every so often it would change from radio to media player & play AP again.

Listening to the MP later on, after using the SW controls and dash to select an album and "play all" it would start repeating the track once it had finished rather than the next one?

Is this sort of erratic behaviour normal?
Perhaps an upgrade may be in order.....

In a word, yes :)
That's quite normal.

The autoplay will take over a lot. Pretty much every time the B&M system writes something to the dashboard display, it will kick in autoplay if it's turned on.
I found on my GP turning autoplay off in the menus didn't disable it, but using the "playback stop" voice control did.

The flashing mileage means the car thinks proxy alignment needs to be run, as it thinks something on the CAN bus isn't configured.
More often than not, it will go away of it's own accord when you turn off the engine.
If not, you can run proxy alignment with FiatECUScan, so may be worth investing.
