Last owner didny have the V5 the day I went to collect the car, sent the application form thingy away to the DVLA and haven't heard back..

IIRC you can only do this once and within a certain time of owning the car. Ah had to do it on ma last car, Mk4 Astra :bad:

I had to do it back in December, as the car was taxed till the end of December..
Gonna try and get the form this week and try again to get the Sei registered in my name, even though it's isnured in my name and I'm the only driver on the policy!!

However, I also believe some of the rules and regs have changed!

All I did Martyn was fill out the V10 with:
Name
Address
Car Make & Model
Registration Number
And how long I wanted (6mnths), so I'm not having to worry about getting xmas stuff and Tax.
Then paid £82.50 for 6months.

Have you tried filling the V10 like andi did?

Not at the PO/Dvla....

I obtained the V5 application form and send that, along with £25, away to Swansea. DVLA point blank refused to acknowledge me, and told me there was no way to tax the car without applying for the V5.

Then why not try and fill in the V10 and see if you get anywhere? Could only get a rejection!

I'm sorry Martyn but the DVLA are only telling you what they want you to know.

The bit I cant understand Andi is at section D -

The documents you need to produce

• The V5C or the new keeper’s details (V5C/2) – see note 1 in section
F opposite


Section F, note 1 states:

1 If you have just bought a vehicle that is not taxed and do not have the
New keeper’s details (V5C/2), you will not be able to tax it until you get
a V5C in your name. You should apply for a V5C using an ‘Application
for a Registration Certificate’ (V62) and pay a fee. You can download
the form from http://www.direct.gov.uk/motoringforms or get one from a
DVLA local office or any Post Office® branch that issues tax discs.

So it seems to suggest what they've told me so far is accurate?

I see a V5 in said picture.

Assuming its posted tonight, and here tomorrow, then I can tax her later on this week. Surely me applying for a V5 won't prejudice this?

I had both V10 & V62, post office never looked at V62, guy just said to send it to the DVLA!
