Its in relation to a cinq they owned. Said they had an oil leak but they didnt have the master key and it would have cost £600 to get it. Whats the function of said master key? Do I really need one?

Thanks... your a brick.. (every pun intended) Does this black/red/blue refer to the ignition key and the FT code? If not then WHAT THE HELL IS IT?

Cinq SX 900 - small but perfectly formed :))

red is the master key, it allows new blue keys (if lost) to be programmed into the immobiliser. Red key is NOT to be used and lose this and your f**ked, keep it in a safe place. Blue keys are for normal use.
Black keys are for cinq's without the immobiliser system.

YOu'll know if your car has an immobiliser built in if the instrument lights on the dash (below the speedo) has a yellow CODE loght

Hope this helps.

p.s. what pun?

I don't know if this is any use to anybody but this guy called chris on another forum says this "On an R Reg punto the key is not a crypto type transponder, but a fixed code. The existing blue key can be cloned onto another blue key without needing to use the red key at all. I'm an auto locksmith and i can provide this service. You can contact me on 07734 714 868"

The guy chris i menshioned above has add this.......

"I'm based in Manchester. I can make you another key by return of post if you send me the blue key. Or if you don't want to risk sending the blue key and you are reasonably local we could meet up. I have a mobile workshop and can make keys on site. My company number is 0800 587 5573. Mobile 07734 714868."

I have recently purchased a Stilo Abarth (2003) for my wife, and it came with 2 blue keys only. The car was new, but pre-registered by the local dealer (hence I was able to get a cracking deal:)) Should I have been supplied with a master key ?:I

Metallic Red 5 door Stilo Abarth, beige leather, 17" alloys, plus lots more !!

No. your stilo has a second generation immobiliser and does not need a red key. Dealer will confirm this
