Cinquecento mariocinq's sporting.

Introduction

well about time i posted in here got it over 2 weeks ago its now lowered 40-40,14" oz racing wheels, 866 cam, new water pump, new gasket set, 81600miles on a 97 R reg and i am part way though planning a low blow supercharger upgrade aiming for around 110bhp
putting any kind of mesh over the hole will be a bad idea.
we put tights over the carb on my dads race bike on a very dusty sprint track (just to get it warmed up in the pits)
the bike would not even start.

think of it this way... cone filters have a HUGE surface area and most likely even bigger holes then tights have.
putting tights or mesh over the hole would be like restricting the port over 50% and the chances are it would suck a hole through the tights the second you turn the key :)

ok sorry not been an update for a while but i have been busy lol

ok quick check list

plenium is made but no longer needed as going to make a custom intake
bought a 1242 16v engine today so that will be ready to pick up on tues so thats the pistons and rods sorted to lower comp

finally finished modding my upper brace so thats back on oh and i totally stripped the back out lol

one thing i have been running over in my head, will the 16v head and sump fit the 8v block???? not bothered if it does or not was just wondering if i would be better going 16v turbo as apoused to 8v turbo??? just doing my usual of thinking out loud lol

ok picked up the engine today and a sore thumb grazed knuckels and oil everywhere i have got the 16v engine down to component parts, well almost lol i have a nice pile of 16v parts which are of no use to me at all lol and the parts i do want are stuck in the block as the head bolts are seezed in (snapped 3 T50 bits and a breaker bar trying to undo them) so tomorrow will be spent drilling the bolts out (was hoping to sell the head but hey it came cheap enough so i really aint bothered lol

but on the plus side if anyone wants a the following give me a shout lol

all working when engine was removed
16v parts:-
coil pack and leads
cam carrier and cams
crank
inlet manifold (no TB)

right on to my plan lol, i am going to make a custom mani and was wondering if its possible to wire the 16v TB up to work???

its a type of socket head, like torx but different. You will keep breaking stuff until you get the correct tools....

Good luck with the custom manifold, its a bit unneccesary isnt it though, since people have used standard ones before...

You will never get the FBW TB to work unless you transplant the later ecu to run it as well.

yeah going to start getting more tools lol, this is the first time i have come across ribe (maybe a torx did it with out me realising before)

its something i was toying with anyway but jay really gave me that little extra kick that i needed to say yeah why not lol if it doesn't work i will just go back the the stock mani lol

and yeah i kind of thought that about the TB lol oh well that now goes in the sale pile lol

a custom inlet manifold isnt gonna be as good as stock unless you put a LOT of thought, testing and work into it. At which point you might as well go ITBs and standalone.

why not stick with a ported mk1 16v manifold and marea 1.6 TB? Tried and tested.

16v mani wont fit my 8v head will it plus i am going stand-alone and there will be alot of work going into the mani as it will be a long work in progress and i am going to to the math with it and design it properly and try it on the rollers with each new change to get max performance from it

oh my bad, thought you were doing full 16v conversion. sorry didnt read the thread properly.

good luck with the design, the 8v manifold should be able to be improved on given that it doesnt distribute as evenly as it should.

I think craig manage to fit the mpi inlet to the spi head :). With some spacers or some sort.

i am using the mpi head lol and making a custom inlet and TB set-up out of alloy so i can use the TB size i want to lol it will be math'd up and designed with big power in mind and maybe big bosst but not sure yet as its a working progress lol

ok so bit the bullet and went and bought a ribe set today and pop the bolts came straight out (with a little strengh) so see below for the pistons which will be going away to be cleaned.

got a price for the standalone too and (rubbing pockets) i should have that sorted soon enough, decided to go for the omex 600 with omex 3bar map sensor along with a harness made by them and i will be lucky if i see change from a grand lol but its a labour of love and the results when done should see good if not great figures lol

oh and me and some friends are off for a RR day the biggining of next month so will get figures of what its running at the mo in stock set-up lol

ok strange question i know but dont suppose anyone knows where i would get a high flow fuel rail from??? not that there is anything wrong with the stock one its just a personal choice thing lol (i like shines under the bonnet)

what made you pick the ecu. for much much less then a grand you could of got a whole megasquirt setup with the MS3 ecu (do everything and anything)

dont waste money on shiney fuel rails. cant really see it anyway and the standard is fine (polish it if you want!) last thing you want to do is change stuff that dont need changing.
do that after its reliable.

gone for that ecu as its what the RR people that will be setting it up know and recommend (nobels motorsport the people behind the engine in the m12 and m400) they have used it on a few cars and yes its abit ott for a low boost cinq but i wont be leaving it low boost for ever plus thats 1k fitted and set-up give or take a couple of hundered lol i will be fitting it my self as omex will supply a plug and play harness and then all its a case f is limp or toe it to nobels for them to set-up on the RR's

please bare in mind that a grand is everything i need to get it running inc all new omex sensors and an omex 3bar map plus plug and play harness

i dont want cheap on this car i want the best lol (decided that the other day when i realised i am sick of things breaking)

once i have the omex in and running i will then start looking at FMIC and a bigger turbo, better fueling and maybe get the head reworked or might just get it port and polished i have got big things in mind as the ecu is meant to be good for a 400bhp set-up (i know the engine will give up long before that) but i would like to know what is possible from these engines and this ecu will let me find that out
