Just need some help here, I took Jugs advice about keeping the car and im just going to do the work to it and get it back on the road and enjoy it again

So ive been to scappey which ripped me off lol £40 for a air filter and 2 head lights one of which needs the support bolt fixed but that will take 5 mins and some strong ass glue.

Problem is this the Marea has 4 plugs the bravo has 3, I can see which one is missing from main plug number 3 and the second black plug, Is it best for me to rewire from the side lights in to number 3 on socket and wire a second black in to the main black in ???? and then water seal the side light head so they dont get affected from water,

Or if any of you live any where close to consett that would be willing to come give me a hand fit them tomorrow ?

Oooh yer i never got the little sidelight connectors off the Merea but i did not notice this till i got home, But by looking at the standard bravo lights im sure you can wire them with out it, Either direct in to the main wire connector box or direct to the cables.....

go back and get the sidelight bulb holders. :D

then all you need to do is connect the black wire on the sidelight holder to the black wire on the main headlight wiring connector, and the other wire on the sidelight holder to the wire on the main connector for the sidelight (cant remember which pin).

if you really dont want to go back for the sidelight holders, then you can use the sidelight bulb holders from inside the old lights (chop the wires off). these bulb holders are too small to fill the hole on the marea lights. so wrap them in insulation tape and wedge them in. although i would much prefer to use the correct sidelight holders. polarity is not impoartant on a bulb, so it doesnt really matter which way round you get the wires, as long as you use the correct 2 wires, shared earth and sidelight live. test to make sure you use the correct ones.

OK thanks Jug, I cant get the sidelight holders for it so ive got some Silicon filler which ive been told from the local elec shop will make a water tight seal, Just means if there is ever a probem i can still remove the buld but will have to snip the wires, So ive got some wire seals too so i can just unscrew them. This should make a nice little water prof seal and neat finish too.

im going ot scrap yard at the weekend so will look to see if they have any for you if you like???? only cost you whatever it costs me (postage)

Im going to go test the new wires now, Ive taking the 4 pin off the bravo lights and wired it in to the Merea lights so it now has the correct blue cable on it and 2 split black cables,

If it does not work getting them for me would be wounderfull....

I got them working with out the use of the boxs so no need to get me any, Ive even trowing a bucket of water over them to make sure the silicon seal is holding the cables in a water tight hold on the back of it, Looks very neet and clean the two cables have been glued down the underside of the lights so they our hidden out of place, And just to make sure nowt gets in the cables ive used some elecey tape on them to make sure there sealed....

Now thats all done guess i need to figure out why my hand brake light is staying on... Ooooh well best get on with it if i want the MOT done this week.

Out of interest.. would non-poly marea sidelights fit poly sidelights?

thats what i suggested in my post, and what he has done. the only problem is they are smaller, so they let water in, and can pop out. silicone should do the trick, until a bulb needs changing :D

Ahhh you see thou ive made sure i can still remove the bulds :p, Ive put the silicon inside the back of the bulb connecter where ya plug the cables in and used a new rubber ring for round the inside of both, No water gets in Bucket test has been done lmao, Also i made sure i could access all lights if the bulbs need to be changed I think ive done a good job on the rewiring and just wanted to make sure i was doing the correct thing before i did it :p Didnt want to start blowing fuses and having to replace them too :p:)

See what ive done with silicon

I placed it over the top of the wires where the originaly plug in to the bulbs, So that no water is able to get in side there, I left a rubber ring in side of where the bulb acutlay goes to help prevent any leaks in there. That part there where the wires our see able is the only part where open connections where see able to the eye or that might be effected by water so i used water right silicon to seal it.

Ive also converted the Merea head light from a 3 pin connecter to a 4 pin connecter so that it plugs direct in to the bravo plugs with out the use of having to bare wires or connected extra cables. All lights work as they should and all lights turn off as they should,
And i must admit yes jug as your posts say they look nice in the car very nice.

Also the two cables that you can see in the photo have both been fully covered in sil to to prevent any water getting in a nick or break in the cable ive also ran the wires along the base of the light and covered them in black tape so they can not be seen. I think i should be ok from water now.
