As did many cars of that age.
Tipo's I believe have black along the bottom (Can't remember exactly as my last Tipo before the Sedici was black, and the milkbottle has skirts that cover the sils)
Coups have black sills, and mk1 puntos.. Think it was part of the improving the protection for the bodywork and reducing the likelyhood of rust.
