Hello all

I am going to inspect and possibly buy a 2.4 td hlx on a P reg with 59000 miles. The seller has some Mot's and service history to back the mileage up. I use to have a td100 but always wanted the 2.4. Just want to know what needs to be checked when test driving the Marea. I understand there might be quite a few niggles with the 2.4 engine. Also what kind of money do you think it is worth to anyone knowledge.

I hope to get everone's verdict by the end of 3pm, this is the time I am setting off to have a look at the marea.

Thank you all and good luck.

No more niggles with the 2.4 than the 1.9 - other than increased cost of service, and replacement of parts due to the 5th cylinder. Check for cambelt and the state of the clutch.

If you're not in a hurry, look around for a JTD 2.4 rather than the TD.

engine light and air bag light
if have any probs get in touch as i have two spare enginges and ecu's
with blue key and red key.
all engine setup information and tools to do cam belt change to loan out.
cam belt kit about £70.00 and water pump about £20 (easy to do)
2.4 has different track rod ends and rear discs to the td100
which i also have.
bottom arms also check £22.00 each in stock .
Tyres £25.00 each fitted 5.5" alloys
the 2lt 20V has 6" alloys fitted and fit but catch on full lock due to off set

Check condition of clutch because the td125 clutch model is more expensive than the td75/100's one. In Italy a complete clutch (inclusive of flywheel) costs about 650,00€!!
