My beloved 2.0 HLX Estate had a bit of exterior modification last week when the bonnet inapropriatley flipped open on the motorway.

Luckily the windscreen didnt shatter, just cracked all over, and obviously the bonnet is mangled. And even more luckily, no-one was hurt and the roads were very quiet when it happened.

Anyway the recovery service kindly towed the car home for me, and allowed me to carry on getting in to London so I could get a day's work done. However when I got home and put my keys in the door, the central locking was dead. It also turns out the rest of the car is dead too, its as if the battery has been disconnected when actually it hasnt.

I've checked all the fuses under the bonnet (I think) and under the dash but everything is intact. I've searched the net but I cant find anything of this nature, only fuel cutoff switches after a collision which this isnt.

Can anyone help?

And is anyone interested in a reasonably well looked after 95k 1998 sky blue 2.0Hlx estate? Very good engine and even has 1 month of MOT left, would only need rear brakes and tires to pass next time.....

thanks for the suggestion but I really dont think it'd run the battery flat for a 10mile tow. The car was running 100% fine right up until he towed it, with a new battery just bought earlier last year.

If anyone else thinks it really might be a flat, I'll try charging it up.

The thing is the driver kept repeating I couldnt drive the car, so I suspect he did something to make it undriveable. Could this be or am I just too paro?
