Hi all, could you please help... I have a 1997 Fiat Marea 1.9 TD75... had to replace quite a few ancillaries... including diesel pump... im aware on older diesel models theres a hand pump, but not on the marea...
I've tried bleeding the fuel filter, removing the injector lines, removing the return hose etc... but still no luck it just doesnt want to start :bang: . looking at the pic of the pump can anyone tell me how to bleed it please. Thanks

I dont see a bleed screw on this pump, so the only way to bleed these is to loosen injector fittings and crank engine. If there is a priming pump (rubber bulge type pump) in the feed line to filter, loosen the injector pump supply pipe at the pump and use the rubber priming pump until diesel comes out at pipe. then loosen the injector fittings and crank the engine until diesel comes out of all four pipes. then, tighten one fitting gradually while cranking the engine until it starts to fire, then gradually tighten the rest of the fittings up. Do not crank engine for more than 15 seconds at a time, and give the starter a minute or two to cool down each time.

Keep hands away from any spray from fittings or wear gloves, as diesel under pressure can penetrate skin !!

When you say you had to change the pump do you mean the injector pump ? - if so why did it have to be changed ?. Are you sure the immobiliser / cut off solenoid valve is working properly ?. Are the feed and return pipes connected correctly ?.

If you loosened the injector pipes / fittings then you should have seen diesel dripping out eventually when cranking, and it would have been enough to bleed it. no diesel = no starting.

Owen.
