Mannix 2 way car alarm with full closure( i thought the closure bit would make you sit up)

Youve prolly heard of these before no doubt, and as the price is quite cheap for these at the moment i was wondering

1: has anyone got one that can rate them? or know of anyone who has one , any recommendations or too much trouble than its worth...?
2: can anyone or does anyone know how can fit it for a reasonable price? any cheap alarm installers?
3: are there any others around the same price that are better?

Ive been looking at these a while and as they are now cheaper than last year and have full closure, the deal sounds good, they seem a semi reputable company, but i think i would get stung on installation costs.

are there any decent/cheap installers here or does anyone know of any? id like to get a cost on this beforehand

I asked mannix:

I believe for the remote start to work the immobiliser needs to be bypassed, could you tell me if this is the case whether my immobiliser would still protect the car and be active in use?

If you have a transponder immobiliser you will need an override module for the remote start function to work.
The chip of the spare key is placed in the override module and attached to the stirring column near to the ignition, and when the remote start function is used it issues a short signal overriding the transponder immobiliser for a few seconds. Alternatively you can strap the spare key near to the ignition barrel but this will cause the immobiliser to be overridden all of the time rendering it useless.

that is a bad idea!
one of the good things about fiat is the code immobiliser. taping the module from the key is almost as bad as leaving a spare key in the glovebox.

the insurance probably wont cover you.

1) remote start is illegal in the UK on manual cars unless you have a lock on the gearbox to lock it in neutral. (its ok on autos as they won't start in gear)

2) bypassing the immob is a VERY VERY VERY stupid idea. Its there for a reason plus its factory fitted and thatcham approved and your insurance will be based on the car having it. (the fiat immob is VERY secure, hence why its so expensive to fix)

Aparently there is a sensor to tell if its in gear, if so it wont start
and you dont have to have remote start configured.

i was wondering apart from those things whether the alarm is worth it, i think im just impressed for its flashy toy value at the moment,
