no as i find foam pipercross filters give a louder, meatier noise

and i wanted a great big filter to fill the behind the mesh in my bumper
can you post a pic of the finished 'forced air induction and accoustic enhancement kit'? or, if you already have, a link?
cheers. im intrigued now!! :D

The ram air you speak of Phil is a forced induction, motoring eqvilent is a turbo.

The reducing elbow from SFS that mckrich and mase got is £29.37 including VAT and 1st class post.

Gonna order mines Monday.

the cone finally came today :D

i have not put it at bottom of bumper now, its slightly higher, just above where the clutch cable attaches too - pics when its light

the pipercross is amazing, it gives a fantastic grunt, im not sure its suppose to pop as much as it does, but that makes it sound even better

as for perfromance you can feel it after 3k and pulling away doesnt seem as clumsy anymore

Ordered my reducing elbow today, nice guys at SFS BTW, hose with VAT, delivery and the hose clips to go with it should come in at £33.00 so all good there.

Looking at universal filters and Jetex have a good range but before I order is it one with a 75mm neck the one I want since I've got a 76mm (filter end) reducing to 51mm (plenum end)?

Liam

nope the bob was much smaller than 50mm - it was 41mm hosing i used on it

i cocked up on the hose connecters though and got 38mm ones, so will need to change them when i got time

ok this is wat i have used!

1 ractive cone filter
1 red reducing elbow (63-51) RE90-63-51 from sfs
1 hose joiner 51mm SHJ51 from sfs
1 straight length 51mm SHL51 from sfs
1 straight length 22mm for oil breather SHL22 from sfs
1 pipercross oil filter

however i did have to use a bit of the hose to go over the end of the penulm thing to thinkin it up cause it was only 41mm!

but none the less that total gave me this

i do need to trim the elbow at the cone end tho to get it all level but i cant b assed cause it is cold lol

Yet another thing I've been looking into changing on my Cinq.
Back in my murky past of tuning minis, the longer you have the pipe between the carb and the filter, the better the improvement in torque at lower revs, but it has a negative effect at higher revs.
There is also a little mod called a "stub stack" which is a bellmouth that's only about 5mm in height, this improves the airflow when using a filter mounted directly onto the carb and the join between the base of the filter and the inlet port is flat.
In theory this should all work along the same lines on the Cinq

The stub stacks are great, used to have one on my modded Metro (oh the shame... I've come out of the closet now) but I don't think you could design something like that for the cinqy SPI unit - it's all a bit busy on the top there. The mouth is funneled toward the butterfly in the throttle body as standard.

To be honest I've not had a mooch about under the bonnet yet, but anything that's putting right angles into the airflow is going to screw things up a bit.
I'm not that impressed with the fact that the cinq has a nice big airbox the ends up going to an intake tube that can best be described as being the size of a Jack Russels nob !!
I think a session with the vernier gauge is on the cards at the weekend......when I've put the Kwaka back together that is
