ive got a film in .avi format (in 2 parts) how can i quickly put them on to dvd and watch them on my player? im not bothered about fancy menu's or anything like that.

cheers!

Hmm, sounds like you would need a program to encode it to DVD, it can be time consuming dependant on the length of film plus the specs of your PC.

This is what I found whilst trying to convert .mpg to DVD.

Not sure about Nero, but I know Easy CD Creator can do it, though it does take forever. They do it one frame at a time, so if you have a fast computer you should be ok, although you better prepare to leave it and do something else while it's encoding.
For reference, I did a cool music video DVD, menu and everything and that took about 2 hours to encode on my old PC (P3 1800, 256MB RAM). It had about 1/2 hours worth of video on it.

XBox media centre is the media player on the XBox game console, I'm guessing it's pretty similar to Windows Media Player, so it can play avi's, wheras most standalone DVD players can't (y)

Ahhh, it was a guess tbh. I'm not a fan of XBox, don't own one so was just having a stab at what it was ;)
once there chipped they become so much more. use my main xbox more as a media player than anything

not a lot on the GC,hence why i prefer the xbox. few emulators but thats it :(
ive got 7.1 on the PC so could run it but find it easier to run the xbox .
also found using the TV out from the PC that the signal didnt always give the best ratio for the 16-9.

oh should have added you can stream from the PC via XBMC so you get the best of both :p
