Machine Polisher

Hello All,

Can anyone recommend a good machine polisher that isnt going to cost me a fortune, I would like something to replace my clarke one which tbh the head is not interchangeable and is too big, does a job but does make life a little awckward.

if by any chance anyone is looking to sell one let me know

I was thinking £150 all in mate for a rotary unless you think I would be better with a DA.

If your first machine, go for a DA. On fiat paint you'll achieve 95% correction without issue.

Would be a good starting point.

If you want to go rotary, you'll achieve quicker results but need more practice to get the right technique without damaging the paint.

Look for a bundle like the one I posted with pads / backing plate / polish as works out cheaper and is simpler!

Can you tell me exactly why its best to have a backing plate is to keep the pad cooler and fron getting warm or something?

Nope, it is what the polishing pads attach to.

To be fair, buff daddy appears to come with a backing plate already

Velcro, and the polishing pad affixes onto it

Available in several sizes to suit pad size small pad small backing plate

When you get to rotary they also affect the way the pad behaves a foam backing plate reduced the risk of it bouncing. And allows the pad to flex on curved panels unlike a thin ridged plate

That is a rotary, not a random orbital polisher. If you aren't careful you could burn through or push your paint due to heat build up.

If you go down this route, get a panel from a scrap dealer and practice on it.... Or the wife's car. Ha ha...

Machine is basic too... No soft start and low ish torque but not a bad machine on a budget.

I started with a DA and moved onto rotary and now use both depending on the job and car....

Good for softer paints. Menz is good too, and you could get more polishes in due course.

The kestrel is a good budget DA too. I have one and no issues!

DAS6 auto finesse kit mate. No experience with autoglym compounds but auto finesse very good. The machines are extremely similar tbh

Checking CYC though I'd do the sonus kit over the autofinesse tbh. Sonus stuff is brilliant

rotarys are not the spawn of satan but need care especially on plastic parts due to heat build up eg bumpers.... also panel edges,.,

I've longed for a DA, always wanted the DAS6Pro Britemax kit but keep making excuses not to :bang:
