Little bit worried, was just on my laptop, and got this message.

I couldn't do anything apart from turn it off via the power button.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? I'm about to do a virus scan, but looking for a bit of piece of mind.

i use to get this all the time when i closed the lid and then opened it again, done some googling and one suggestion was to repair the disk permissions

go applications, utilities, disk utility

select your hard drive and then click the button for verify permissions and then repair once its verified, you can also verify the disk

also wont do any harm to run the maintenance scripts

search for terminal with spotlight open it and enter

sudo periodic daily weekly monthly

exactly like that and leave it to it

hopefully that will help it sorted it out for me
