i'm getting over 2mb on mine which is fine, never had any problems with xbox live yet

Mobile dongles like the ones from 3 use the mobile 3G network to send a recieve data. The maximum speed at the moment is 7.2Mb from Vodaphone but as you'd expect its very dependant on having a full signal and a good 3G connection. The average speed most acheive is around 2Mb, no where near fast enough fo good online gaming. They also have a 1GB or 3GB useage limit, ok if you want to read your emails. I have 2MB(= 20Mb) unlimited broadband connection and that works perfectly for online games, anything less and the lag makes gaming useless.

You need about 5Mb download and 0.5Mb for Call Of Duty, World At War 2. Anything less and connecting to the servers is difficult.

Please post a link to the place you had your dongle from, my IPad will love those speeds from a mobile connection. (y)

well, i obviously don't need 5mb like i've said it works fine  a lot of budget broadband ISPs are barely 2MB themselves.

Your mobile dongle is the fastest I've ever heard of. Please tell me where you brought it from so I can buy one for my IPad.

A link to the website would be the easiest way, but
A phone number?
An address?
Will do.

If the speeds are as good as you say, my IPad will love it so please tell me where you brought it from, the network its on and the price. Thanks (y)

What's the point? he's in a completely different area on the other side of the country. You'd be better off finding out which provider has the strongest signal strength and getting a "3G router" so you can place the router / dongle in the best place for signal strength.

I'd achieved 4-5mbit using the above method in a "HSDPA" enabled area. It's not the bandwidth that make it unsuitable for gaming its the latency which on a good uncongested area will be 100-300ms.

yeah, as Chris says, i'm in a totally different part of the country, it's on three though 15GB for £7.50 plus VAT on a 30 day rolling contract, should have been a 24 month contract for £15 a month but after a lot of complaining and time the phone i got it for the price i paid on the contract i'm on.
