Punto (Mk2/2b) Lum's 2b - Eurooooooooooo to be!

Introduction

I've been browsing these forums since I got my punto, never got round to making a thread. Since I'm starting to mod it now, probably should make a thread. I'm a 17 year old from Scotlannndddd and this is my first car :)

Was decent back then, I got it for 1800. First thing I did was took them wheel trims of and ran on steels, then took the bump strips off.

Unfortunately I had a crash not long after I passed, reversed right into the side of a BMW (ha :/). Don't even want to know what my insurance is going to be next year tbh.

So, the damage ..

I then bought a badgless grill from eBay for 50. Was a mo'fukin scam, thing was a piece of sh*t, tried to send it back to the guy and get a refund but he didn't collect it or something and it ended up just getting returned to me.

So I took it upon myself to try and do up my grill abit myself. I sanded away the silver that was on it, then sprayed it gloss black. Then I got the centre which used to say fiat sprayed silver. I kinda regret ever touching it cos it looks worse now lmao ..

My seats were quite bad so I've got some seat covers just now to cover them up, think i'm going to get alfa 146 seats in a few weeks, i'm liking them tbh. Although being a celtic fan, red and blue isn't the best of combo's - the seat covers wer given to me so I didn't really have a choice haha.

Got tired of my steels, was in the scrap yard looking for a spoiler yesterday and I found these alloys :slayer:. Yes I got them from a scrap yard and they are in amazing condition. Alloys like these, with basically brand new tyres arn't easy to find down there and they where a bargan so they will do just now untill more money comes in. I start uni in September, and have got a new job lined up starting next week so I'll be doing it up quite a bit over the next few months.

As it is now with the alloys ...

I have plans for it, i'm going euro and everthings getting smooth'd. I need to go low low low aswell (thinking about FK AK's but duno might take Atticus's Silverlines). Probably going to get the damage fixed now, thatl be next on my list.

What locking kit you get mate ive just fitted one in my mk2b may be able to give you advice of send a few pics of correct wires to splice, also from scotland but dunno how close.

Thats the badboy i got
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UNIVERSAL-REMOTE-CENTRAL-LOCKING-UPGRADE-KIT-2010-MODEL-/230451013865?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35a7f368e9

I used the HAWK one but i imagine you would use the same wires. The thing I thought I messed up on was the power wire. It dosn't seem like its getting power to it at all :/ even though ive wired it up to well what i think it a power wire. You got any pics or anything mate? Any help would be banging like.

can get you some, need tidy it up a bit anyway ill also take down the wire colours, i know instead of splitting the indicator wire i went direct to the hazard wire as other way bridged the circuit and hazards went on with indicator lol not cool.

i read somewhere someone did that lmao. mabey it was you posting somwhere else on the forums! If you could show me what cable you used as your power cable that wid be aswome. And its pin 24 and 34 for unlocking and locking eh? in the black connector?

Locking - Pin 34
Unlocking - Pin 24
Indicator - Pin 2 (ill double check and tell you the colours)
Live (I spliced into a red cable in a bunch to the left of the lever that raises/lowers wheel)
Negative Wires - attatched to the underside of a bolt on steering column

Will take pics 2moz as some pikey has borrowed my allen keys and not returned them

More of an update, I gota get pics on, cos my phones broke I don't have a camera now :(

- Got the spoiler, ready to be sprayed black.
- Smoothing the bumper (plastic welding) going good.
- Smoothed a boot, ready to be sprayed + spoiler fitted.
- Interior re-trim completely finished, love it :D

For christmas, should I get ..

FK AK's? or a new reg plate 'L333 UUM' (for Liam) I'm stuck between the 2 haha.

nah mate fibreglass is fine if you use the correct one and use it properly...use enough hardener and let it set and sand properly...prep surface properly will be fine.:)

The surface needs to have a strong key. Sanding the to be filled areas with p40 is fine my front and rear bumper is done this way been driving it over 6 months and nothing wrong with it.

I would strongly recomend welding plates in any! metal smoothing. I tried to cheat and do the same with my bonnet sunk within 2 weeks. I welded a small plate over my rear wiper hole and looks perfect. Keep us updated.

Btw where in Scotland u from. Im from Edinburgh

Yeah i suppose so. Ive never worked with fibreglass either and it irritates my hands like a b1tch because the bins at work are made of it and i cant even touch them lol.
So just thought it might have been more practical for me to plastic weld them and fill over that

plastic weld is harder i tryed it only once at colege didnt enjoy it lol can bodge it if you want and use a soldering iron to melt the plastics together lol

wear gloves to do fibreglass it comes as a paste so you just spread it over the gaps

ah right, think ill probably just fibreglass it then tbh lol
do you need the netting stuff first or just paste the whole lot?

just the paste....i didnt use any of that mesh stuff...just make sure you use enough hardener when mixing and apply quickly before it turns hard.

once all holes filled sand ruff a bit then use some filler...keep using filler until 100% smooth and all bubbles (little holes youll get what i mean when it comes to doing it lol) are gone

Yeah man I know! How did you weld the plate on the wiper hole? Cos its too small to get in behind it!

Oh, and I'm from Livingston :D, I go to Napier Uni so I'm in Edinbrugh with the car most days.

Oh and guys, if you look back in my thread you'l see that I WOULD VERY STRONGLY ADVISE PLASTIC WELDING IT!!! I tried to get away with that, not plastic welding, and i primed the bumper than notices a small crack, so i put some strain on it, and it cracked right along the line. So I've been plastic welding!

Its so easy, get a doner-bumper, or just some plastic and then just use a soldering iron (£13 from ebay) and away you go. Honestly, it took me like 1 hour to get the hang of, now I', the grand daddy at it :D
