Sorry Whitz,

I don't see the point. I paid less than £100 for the car and the rest of its natural life will be spent taking me to the shop 2 miles away (not good for the jag start stop) or enjoying a some what spirited drive around a track at the weekends.

Shiny bolts are not important, correct new nuts on the other hand are (as pointed out most have a nylon locking bush)

The car paint work is acceptable at best (Its not untidy but not up to what I would say good condition) its missing all its plastics inside as well as seats, trim, sound deadning.

All work I have done is to make it safe, road worth and pass its next MOT as well as insuring the body work will not rot between now and then :D

i see your point and i am looking at it from a different perspective then you, as im doing all the car under and inside small details get me, such as the front bumper is being held on by a M6 and an M8 while il have to change as its bugging me

as for bolts and nuts im having new ones welded onto the rear subframe to bring them to a standard pitch (1.25) rather then having to crawl to fiat for one with a special pitch, also all the new nuts and bolts are here so i can torque them up tighter and they haven't been under strain yet that along with new washer and spring washer's (solid engine mounts) so the car wont shake its self apart while going down the road

Fiat pitch is either 1.25 ( majority) or 1.5, only one that is different is the brake hose unions! which is 1.

But seriously tho, once you tap and dye the thread and the nut it is like brand new!

That's one of the things i haven't got but should be something i must, its a nice feeling new nut on a bolt;)

the cam carrier on the 16v heads are a pitch of 1, also the pitch on the welded onto the rear axle is different along with the bolts that go into the chassis to hold the rear axle on

+ to me that would be doing a job half arsed and then i have lots of spares :p pretty much all the bolts im replacing are cap heads bar one for the bonnet latch
