Tuning Lowering the punto

Got a set of -40mm springs for my car its an 05 plate mk2b active sport 8v and was planning on getting the springs fitted, so i asked a family friend whos a mechanic if he could help me with them and he said I would need to change the lower arms or such like because the lowered height would through out the camber and ruin the handling, can anyone shed any light on whats involved and what else i might need.

Your going to need spring compressors buddy
And there is a huuuge hoohaa over whether new shocks are needed, Brin has his lowered 50mm on standards, and his are fine, however it is suggested you go for uprated/shorter shocks, thus meaning that coilovers become a perfect option!

Got all the tools for the job at the garage, gonna keep standard shocks as should be fine till I save up and buy something better , just wondering if id need camber bolts or anything else

Yes once you've lowered - you'll need to take it to a laser Wheel alignment Place
And get a Full data Sheet for the whole cars wheel cambers and fronts tracking

As you will probably find if you dont your tyres wont grip or last long

Hopefully get it done in the next few weeks, should I drive the car a bit to let everything settle then get the tracking and alignment done ?

But not for too long. My guess is that everything will be more or less OK, but check for excess camber at the rear.
