08 Grand Punto and had the front top mounts and droplinks replaced about 3 years ago.
I do very little mileage (3-5k max) on pot-holed london roads. Last year i switched out the cheap droplinks that already failed with Meyle HD versions.
Everything was good up until last week.
I now feel knocking/vribration at slow speeds on uneven ground. Sounds and feels just like worn droplinks, so I took the car to the mechanic that installed the meyle droplinks to check if the nuts are loose (they don't have lock nuts). Mechanic checked all nuts were tight, no play in the droplinks or engine mounts.
He checked for play in the bearings and couldn't find any. He says it could be top mount bearing (most likely) or struts. When I said the top-mounts (bearings) were replaced a few years back, he says "if it's from Eurocarparts, they're probably worn already. the parts are ****". Guess its universal knowledge ECP sell some cheap parts. LOL.
I think I'll look to have the top mount bearing replaced again. What brands would you recommend? Not looking to pay a fortune, but not looking for cheapies that need replacement after 18months.
