i was looking around my engine the other day and found a cable loose at the back. andi have no idea where its from. il get a photo p if no one here can guess. it brances off from a larger corrogated pipe along with another cable going to the ignition system.

iv noticed my car seems to be a little faster but i might be guessing , its not modified at all but can get to 110 on a flat which i thought was strange for a 1.2 8v mk2 punto

apreciate any ideas. thanks

the middle photo is off the main pipe and the small branch is the cable i am asking about

Hi Think it one of the Diagnostic test sockets. They some times have small plastic caps on them to keep them clean and free of dirt though they quite often fall off or are missing. If it was any thing important say for one of the sensors you would know about it as the car would either not start or run like a bag of spanners.

great so you think its nothing to worry about ? any reason for the increase in speed? just replaced steelies with alloys, could that make such a big difference? my max used to be 90 now its 110 as far as i know.

as ming said if the alloys are bigger they have a larger rolling area causing an increase in speed but a loss in acceleration and will also cause your speedo to out by a few mph sometimes it can be a lot depending on how much the wheels have jumped in size

ye i was worried haha, no the wheels are the same diameter both 14"
thanks

iv looked all around that area and i cant find any sockets to put a plug in, there is one at the front but its already got a plug in it.
thanks

you have me worried now. i was having a look around the gearbox and directly below the battery on the gear box. there is some thing there not sure what it is, but it had one nut on it which was completly loose and sticking out and a metal cap on it covered in greese which could turn freely but was sucured on. any ideas ? this is just below battery on tranmsission
thanks

Is there is a thick black wire scure on it? Thick is the earth.

If your car is running fine then you shouldn't worry too much ?
