I'm looking to buy a T-jet and have a couple of questions. Are there different variations of T-jet like a 'Sporting' and standard or are they all the same as I was looking at a 57 plate t-jet and it had blue badges whereas the red t-jet I've got my eye on has red badges as well as the panoramic roof, I assume this is just a different badge colour and nothing more.
Also are ex demo cars okay I mean would they have been thrashed by the salesmen at all at the garage. It has had one owner after being a demo car and has 27,000 miles on the clock.(y)

For the condition of the car make sure they have prepped the car properly.
Check to see if it has full history.

As for the ragging the motor, most car will be booted at one point of another.

Sportings have a Red dot in the rear badge, to designate the spec. Only the spec level, not the engine.

There should be a grille badge saying T-Jet (obvious I know but peeps mistake them for MultiJet or StarJet engines!)

Thanks alot, so performance spec is the same across all t-jets then? Are they quite nippy, considering I'm coming from a punto mk1 75 I guess I'll feel a huge difference in acceleration. Sorry for all the questions I'm just really looking forward to getting a better car and want to get all the facts and opinions I can before buying.

Thats a smart looking car, if I Had the money i'd be interested, I'll settle for a stock t-jet at the moment though.

£5000, I was looking at your ad earlier £7000 is a bit to much for me right now plus a bit too low for some of the more rocky roads down here lol. Im looking at a blue t-jet at the moment will probably go and get it only thing is travelling 100 miles and then seeing something that I don't like about it is a huge waste of time. Hopefully one more local will pop up.

I wouldn't count on it, I had to travel 90 miles to see mine, and the next one was 200+ miles away! You could of course ring up first and ask questions to save yourself a journey.

Oh yeah, I will definitely give them a call, can I ask what was wrong with the first one you looked at in case there's a similar problem I might not notice.

Oh I didn't go to the second one, I just knew how far away it was. I bought the first one I looked at because it was a good example and I was happy with it after taking it for a test drive.

If you do want to know a list of problems though, look at this thread:

Don't let it put you off, just use it as a guide on what to look for when you do go to have a look at a car :)

Oh, I hate looking at possible faults I always think tiny noises are gonna be huge problems or I'll get a duff engine lol. Cheers though i'll make a note of some of the more serious problems and give it a good check over.
I'm sure it will all be fine and I'll enjoy the car. Would you say these faults are pretty common?

Nothing serious really goes wrong though.

Or if it does, it happens straight away and gets fixed under warranty, the cars your looking it will most likely be fine, but take the list with you because it's better to be safe than sorry.

A problem with the T-Jet gearbox though is the gasket in the gearbox going and causing the gearbox to lose oil. If it's possible, get the car jacked up and look underneath at the passenger side.

Ok I'll see if I can get under and have a look, I'm buying it from a garage not a private seller so not sure if I will be able to jack it up or not. :( would they have a jack do you reckon.
