Hi all! :)

For those that don't know me, i used to be on here when i used to own M7 HGT!!!

Anyway the speed and power of the renault turbo 5 has kept me smiling all this time, but i need an additional slower and safer more "sensible" car! Thinking of another hgt, but are there many around nowerdays???

What kind og price will i be expecting to pay??!?!?

Many thanks,
you bunch of backwards, twisted, italian-stalion lovers! ;)

Dean

Glad you have came crawling back dean!!

i knew the love afair with that little grey bomber would come to an end, as mental as it was, i knew it would wear you down day by day! :(

i must stress though you aint getting your exhaust back!

to be honest mate, i think you will struggle to get one for the price you sold your old one for, that was rediculous!!!! especially with that plate which i wanted! :(

my hgt got resprayed but it wasnt pink in the end, then i crashed it and have bought another hgt and rebuilt that aswell! :) its nearly finished and looks better then the other one did! imo

hgts range from 1300 to about 3k atm depending on condition, but you can get them for under 2k easily!

i bought my latest one for £750, but it needed alot of bodywork and some clulchproblems sorted, i was going to respray it anyway so body wasnt a problem and the clutch was only a slave cylinder problem :)

anyway, did you do anything else to the r5? or is it as i sore it at south mimms?

Hi Paul!!

Definitely not getting rid of the 5!!!!!!
Love it far too much! :)

Just need another more "family" based car as i have a mini-dean on the way! ;)

It really is a choice between an hgt, Audi A3 (pref. turbo'd version) or a golf...

Been looking on auto trader and there are some reasonably priced ones... It will definitely be the cheaper option to get an hgt (from my above list).

Sorry to hear about the accident... You sure get into some scrapes sometimes!!

The renault has only changed in terms of larger intercooler, smoothed doors (after it got broken into) a side exit exhaust and a few other bits and peices. Nothing else gives me a bigger smile!!!

Cheers Patrick!

B*gger, just got home from a lovely day out in bournemouth and it looks like bidding has ended!!

But i think we're definitely on the lookout for an HGT...

Think my only concern is it's crash test rating - think it only scored 2????

You just can't trust some of the dopey drivers on the road not to smack into you!!

Cheers,
Dean

believe me that score is ********, i have rolled one and smacked one in to a central resivation, both times the the recovery trucks and on the one occasion the firebraigade said that if i was in any other car i would have been dead, both times me and a passsenger walked away totally unharmed (we were bruised from the seat belt but thats it)

Similar here. Been in a head on smash with an oncoming car. Apart from minor injuries I walked away. Car pretty much destroyed.

Welcome back Deano. Long time no see chap. :)

Makes me chuckle that you're worried about the NCAP rating of an HGT when you're currently driving around in that French tissue box! ;) Have you ever seen a crashed R5? No? Then consider this: -

When considering the chances of being killed in any particular form of transport "The Amazing Jonathan" once said "That's fine but here's the differance. If there's a car crash people stop to help and ask if anyone is hurt. If there's a plane crash the witnesses ask if anyone is RECOGNISEABLE!!!!"

In this respect the R5 is very much like an aeroplane. NCAP rating of 2 is far superior and that was on a Brava which given that it is 5-door is possibly not quite as strong as the 3-door Bravo which was never actually tested.

Hi Oz and the rest!!

Fortunately i have never had a crash in any car - and am not planning to either! ;)

But with respect, it's no-longer myself i am worring about... it's the new baby coming along! And there's no way in heck she's getting in my 5, unless of emergencies only!! :)

I am just looking for the safest car within my (and the missus) budget! :) (One that still looks pretty decent too... hehe...)

If a bravo fairs well in some kinds of crash, then i'd assume a 4 star car (Audi and 4th gen golf) should fair very well!

I mean you can never tell when some other guy is not paying attention etc. Funny thing is that a real petrol head at work who has own powerful cars and raced cars too, has just had a crash in his massive V8 BMW. A van hit him at standstill at 50mph!!! (Yes 50!!!!!)

There's just no telling for some other drivers.

I want a safe but affordable car! :)

The bravo is calling!!!!
