The clutch pedal (2002 1.2 model) travels nearly all the way down before there's any action, and it's getting harder to change gear. The pedal doesn't return home either without a bit of help.

What sort of adjustment should I ask for at the garage?

Thanks.

Yes.. sounds like the clutch cylinder is leaking fluid (either internally past its seals, or you may also see an external leak).

I hope it's an external one (metal "sausage" sized cylinder on top of the gearbox) on the 1.2. It's an easy swap if it's external.

If you have an internal (bell-housing) cylinder then it's a gearbox-off job and spectacularly more expensive as a result. In this case, I'd fit a new clutch and release bearing at the same time, so that you won't have to touch it again for a very long time.
