Technical Limp mode

Hi Guys first off thank you for letting me join .

Now to my problem, I have a 2007 Grande Punto 1.2 active which keeps going in to limp mode you can start up and fine turn off and start again in limp mode turn off and start up and fine again .
OBD scanner shows code PO685 which will clear and then show no codes stored .
You can then drive anything from 10 miles to 10 yards when the EML is back on again and in limp mode .
Battery is fine and only thing had done recently is new alternator .
Really appreciate your help ?

Hi and welcome,
A bad earth can cause all kinds of problems, I would clean the battery terminals and main earth cable contacts, maybe replace the main earth cable or run a secondary earth like a jump lead from battery negative to engine block and see if that helps.
