Lights Flicker With Revs ???Help

Yes yet more probs with this car after after the engine change...

My head lights & dash lights flicker on tick over and get quicker as the revs increase, this is damn annoying and off putting whilst driving any clues??

Still got the temp problem aswell despite bleeding the system, can only really be the thermostat..have look at that soon as.

Shot alternator?

Has the heater gone cold again? If it has its going to be the water pump or the head gasket.

Knew I could rely on you Tom for help,

Shot Alternator, wouldn't have thought so, as it was fine before the engine change and the lights etc...are not dimming they just flicker really quickly like interferance.

The heater is warm not mega hot, but will heat up properly if ticking over..don't think its head gasket, no signs of that and the water pump is circulating the water around the engine..

OK, as long as the heater is getting warm. Sometimes the water pump seals go if its sat for a while and air leaks in causing more airlocks.

The temp guage should sit near enough halfway all the time, if not the stat is shot. Mine died about this time last year.

You'll be good at bleeding the system by the end of this

Your probably right there mate..still never found the bleed valve at the back of engine though..
Is it in the pipes going through the bulkhead??

Any other clues on the light flicker,

Light flicker will be the regulator or the diode pack on the alt, new alt is needed.

Next time I'm in the garage I'll check the haynes, see where the bleed point is on a 1.8.

Nope, all integrated. You can get the parts for old 1970's lucas alts but not modern ones.

A friend of mine had his done at a alterantor specialists, he reconditioned it and it wasn't too expensive either.

Are you sure about this? I have had two Bravos -HLX and HGT and in both case cases the temp gauge never got to half-way except in a traffic jam. I have(had) no problems because of this.

Yes, i'm sure. If it goes more than 2 notches below the middle when driving along you have a stat problem.
