Hi i have a bravo 1.9 TD and the lights are really dim... it only looks as though the side lights are working... i have changed the bulbs and put a new fuse in but its stil the same. Any ideas people? Please help as this is now stressing me out! Has anyone else on here got the same car or had the same car to me that also had probs with there lights??
 
Common thought among Brav owners and the only real way to improve is to get a set of Marea Poly Elliptical headlights from a high spec Marea.

get someone to stand in front of the car, turn the sidelights on, then then headlights.

see if they come on. If they do then welcome to the brav lights. If they don't then could be the stalks?
 
my headlights come on but there are just so dim... when i go out at night it looks as thou i only got my side lights on... it that normal for bravos?
 
unfortunatly... yes

the lights are rubbish.

People get the marea poly lights normally to replace them.

You coudl try getting 'nightbreakers' (headlights) as these are ment to be brighter.

Where can i get them from .. n how much will it cost me...

Cant beleive they are that rubbish .. it feels like am driving with no lights on ...
 
If you can post a pic up we can have a look but to be fair they are pretty poor. Marea Polys are the way forward I'm afraid.

ebay normally have some but currently are £125!!!!

You could try a scrappy with your fingers crossed.
On my old bravo I used to put my fog lights on when driving country lanes because I couldn't see the edge of the hedges!
Very poor lights on the brav's

ok thanks... althou they are alot of money do you think they are worth it though.... i will ave a look on ebay when i come back.... also are they easy to fit?
 
Definitely worth it especially if you are really concerned about it. The guide is very good but if you have no idea of mechanics at all then I would get someone to do it for you. Just make sure YOU READ THE WHOLE GUIDE BEFORE STARTING! Very important that bit. ;)

was just thinkin,your sayin your lights are very dim..but yet people are sayin its just typical brava/o's lights....It may well be your bulbs are on the way out? I had dim rear lights on my polo,took them out an they were bit black,replaced them with brand new ones and all is well :)

Take them out and see if they have like a black tint on them.If so, replace them with new ones..

but without a pic,we cant really tell how you mean by dim..
but like i say..just a thought :)

I agree with what Mike has said. Everyone seems to be jumping the gun here and recommending something you dont need. New lamps wont cure it.

If your getting a dim light output from the dipped beam lamps I can only assume, a power drain, a earth fault (either within the vehicle wiring loom or within headlamp), a duff battery, poor quality bulbs (i.e. blue tinted bulbs) and old/tired bulbs.

Standard bravo lights should,nt be that bad. As joske said it might be wiring. If your replacing the bulbs do get Osram Nightbreakers, there far better than normal bulbs.
There may also be dust inside the headlights and on the lenses blocking the light. Also after alot of miles the outside of the lens can get chipped by stones an allsorts causing a dimming effect.

thats what made me think aswell with her saying they are bad and look like the sidelights are on.Hence me thinkin the bulbs are possibly on the way out.

I know she said she has changed them but i just put up what i instantly thought of
