Hi,
How can i remove lift up reverse on my punto active mk2 2002.

I want to be able to remove the whole collar on the gear stick so i am just left with a normal straight gear stick and the gear knob no plastic collar at all.

I dont want to damage anything and dont want to have to chop off or cut the collar is there a way to just remove it by pulling it off the stick

Thanks

Because i want to remove it theres no point having one and i cant find a decent gear knob to fit a lift up reverse.

Theres no point having one it is impossible to slip into reverse from 5th gear because you dont just pull straight back you have to pull back half way then pull to theright then pull fully back so therres no point.

You cant get into reverse without it though can you :confused:

when you lift it up, doesnt it allow you to move it further across to the right to be able to select reverse?

or am i being stupid

There is a plastic box at the bottom right where reverse is and a plastic wedge on the gear stick lifit up collar near the bottom.

When you lift the collar the plastic wedge comes up and lifts over the plastic box allowing the gear stick to move over more to the right to select reverse.

If you remove it then there is no need to lift up because there is no wedge hitting the box and stopping you from pulling right all the way.

Way too much effort. It's there for a reason.

How am i meant to replace the gaiter if i dont remove the collar. I cant seem to move the gaiter over the plastic collar near were the gear knob is, it wont fit over the lift up collar without ripping it and the new gaiter wont fit back over the collar to put it on.
