Everything was going soo well this evening....!

Now I'm stuck though.
4 Bulbs in the display behind dials.
swopped for four LEDs, and only the centre 2 work.
so changed LEDs, nope.
Changed std bulbs for outer LEDs again, and the std ones work fine, so no damage.
Tried LEDs again, nope!
Tried swopping position, std bulbs centre, LEDs only outside..std ones fine again, LEDs centre fine too.
So WHY WON'T THE BLOODY LEDs WORK ON THE OUTER 2?????????????

howdya mean?

I've tried em every which way possible but they just will not illuminate. Could it be summit to do with the current if the LEDs draw more????

THANKS TOM

IT WORKS!!!

I DID IT, I DID IT, I DID IT! :) :) :) :) :)

Not only does the dash fully work now, the LEDs DO maKE a BiG difference, AND the dimmer control Does still work (though not to as greater degree), and to cap the last two nights efforts off, I've completed my solenoind install this evening too!! I DID IT, I DID IT!

Someone up there beyond that bright moon up in the heavens must be smiling on me! :) Weathers been spot on (bit breezier tonight so not as warm) but I feel mint. Will go to bet with a grin and wake up smiling! Then crack ont wit guides! Although I'm not sure I'll do one for the solenoids, unless it discourages you from trying it!! ;)

Tom, by the way, what dya reckon to di.fm?
Your kinda toons?

Re: THANKS TOM

Extra 10% off the FKs please ;)

You should see Daz's dash :)

Not listened to it yet.

Re: THANKS TOM

Daz wouldn't have a dancing beats dash if he didn't have neons too, and if you'd have banned him from white dials, noo way would you let your efforts with the dials adorn a car with neons ;)

March 17th will now go down in my diary as the day Nico achieved the height of her modding ambitions. Soon I'll be able to put my modding clogs in the cupboard (probably never to be worn again).

cheers again for help
Nicola

Re: THANKS TOM

Time to loose your ability to type and speak properly if you are really a modder ;)

U az 2 tipe lik dis frm naw on ;)

Re: THANKS TOM

I was never a modder - that's the hole point!

It's quite the bizzarest thing I've ever known.
In less than 12 months I've gone from complete automotive gumbah to modding madness and actually understanding something about engines (with a bit of help ;) ). I've used tools I still don't know the propper name for, and made stuff - I hadn't made stuff since school!

Re: THANKS TOM

I missed a 'w' off whole in that last post..does that count?? ;)

Re: THANKS TOM

What exactly do the LED's do to the dash, do they make it a different
colour, brighter !!!! If i know what they did, i'd be interested in fitting
them myself!

Re: THANKS TOM

how long do you reckon for that solenoid guide mate?
or like you said is it going to be more likley to put us off doing it lol :)

Re: THANKS TOM

@Trev, I seriously wouldn't bother trying to scrape off the green from the back of your stock dials. Save yourself a lot of wasted time and effort, and if you want a different colour display, get some ordered via The Freestyle Tacho Website (you must have seen my threads!?). Others have had more success going through me though, and I don't mind communicating the order details over to Przemyslaw (the german guy). I'll hopefully have the guide to the dials with pics showing the difference the LEDs make and all the links etc you might need, done by the weekend - if you fancy a read.

@Josh, it's as much a question of time really. I didn't have a f*in clue how to install em, and sure enough I did have my doubts that I could get em to work satisfactorily once I installed em (getting em in-situ was actually the easy bit). The guide is a difficult one cos about half the time I was using a cosmetic mirror through the door cut outs to see what I was doing! At one stage I was driving round with zip ties on my doors cos I had removed my door lock mechs whilst I needed to have lever cams I'd cut out, welded onto the locking mechs!
A guide will be forthcoming though.

should add Josh..

If you are considering taking the handles off and smoothing em, this simplifies the solenoid install, cos you will not have to faff with lever devices stuck onto the arm of the mech in the door, to counter the tension of the spring for the pull handle. The difficulty then is you have to get the tension of the popper springs just right (you have to butcher the ones they supply and put new springs in) else everytime someone gets out and dosn't close the door with enough force, you'll have to do the remote pop again and ask em to slam it (pure annoyance), hence the need to get the springs just right (all will be revealed ;) )
