Well,

I could not find a modern car that was interestin & economical without breaking the bank.

So I bought this, it requires a little work, but that's my sort of thing, and for the bargain price of £1000.

When it was tired, unloved, undriven for 18months etc over in Welsh Wales.....

As it currenty stands......

I a coupke of months the 500 will be up for sale.

Ahhh, interesting choice - quite a rare sight on these roads, but good if you do lots of longish journeys to get the batteries nice and charged with regen.

It's inevitable for us all. They reckon that most of us with use electric during the week on our daily commutes and the more fortunate ones will have a 'petrol' plaything for the w/e.
Great price. If you could lease the batteries - that would be a blessing.

Why would it be a joke?

With forthcoming increase in my daily commute from 50miles a day to nearly 150miles, and the fact that I know the Insight is a good, economical, reliable car (I did 200,000miles in my last one without a single problem) and its not a run of the mill eurobox.

just had a look on parkers, it's quoted as doing 83mpg! :O how does that compare in real world driving? i'd love to know more about these, they seem different and interesting!

0-60 in 12 secs with only 66bhp so they mustn't be as heavy as i'd have thought!

Driven carefully my last one would do over 90mpg. On a very carefull run tanks of over 100mpg were possible.

The thing weighs 850kg, thanks to it's aluminum bodyshell with plastic panels, coupled with a really low drag coefficient of 0.25 gives superb mph and respectable performance.
