Hey everyone!!

My shell went to the Bodyshop today. But I did get that phone call including the words 'MOT' and 'Failure'

Luckily I knew about it :p

What they're doing that I couldn't, is fitting a new O/S rear quarter (outer & inner skin) and there's some fairly serious work to do near the seatbelt bolt holes.

Ur man started seam sealing too which is exciting.
Here's some pics
Nick

Why do I find these pictures slightly stimulating ?

Great job though !(y)

There is something very satisfying about having that sort of work done by a Pro... I am so jealous of the skills they have and the facilities they use to perform their acts of wizardry and magic.... (y)

Re: Stone chip

Hey peeps!

Here's some cool pics of the underside of the motor!
It's had welding, then etch primer, then seam sealer, then stone chip.
When it comes home I'm gonna give it a coat of Hammerite then Waxoil.
I don't think this motor is gonna rot in a hurry :D

Now that is nice. How are you doing the cavities?

One thing I would say is avoid Hammersh*te. It's not all it's cracked up to be, or maybe it is cause it's really bad for chipping. Certainly i've had bad experiences with it and I know others who have too.

Yes, Hammerite is rubbish. It's ok for a rough bodge job to cover up some rust but otherwise steer well clear.

Interesting  My bodyshop assure me that as a coating over the Stonechip and under the Waxoil, it's perfect. Just protects the Stonechip absorbing water.
Who knows... Who cares.

Should get the shell back Monday. Then it's rebuild time!!
Alan, bless him, got back to me and is sending the gearbox straight to my Transmission guys.

Anyone got a Windscreen??? Leave the important stuff til last eh! :p

I would have thought it would have been very bad over stone chip. Apart from the fact that it doesn't stick very well, Hammerite sets hard and brittle. If you paint it over flexible stone chip it is likely to crack pretty badly.
