Just wondering if this is a common problem on x244 2.8jtd?
I've ordered a new gasket, although If feeling lazy I suppose I could put some stop leak conditioning fluid in it with the fresh oil; but i'm not sure if this is a silicone rubber gasket for it to work.
It's only done 90.000 kms and no I haven't used 5w-40 oil just the usual 10w-40 semi synthetic changed annually

Bon soir
Are you sure it is the sump gasket?
These sumps are renown for rusting through and suffering leaky pin holes particularly if there is no engine under shield to protect them.
The front cross member under the radiator is another favourite for the rust bug but can be easily changed without too much trouble.

Well, the leak appears to be coming from around the joint, which in turn has kept the sump itself rust free. I see that some models have a complete under shield but mine has the plastic partial one only. I fitted a new Radiator 2 years ago and the cross member when exposed as I did this seemed ok.

Merci pour l'info

All done, I found some under paint rust on the sump so I sanded the areas down and treated then repainted.
I held the rubber gasket in place using dabs of superglue(cyanoacrylate) which made life a lot easier, no further leaks! Because all the oil drained and i wiped all clean I have never seen new oil remain so clean:)
