I've just been on the Fiat uk site (mobile version) to see if any new offers have appeared as a colleague is thinking of getting a 1.2 Lounge. To my amazement I checked the whole range and the 1.2 Pop is now £9300 OTR! The only change appears to be that Stop&Start is now standard.

I'm not sure whether there is some error or not as the 1.2 Lounge is now £10,712 OTR which makes the Pop seem totally overpriced.

It's a great little car but who would've thought that from it's humble beginnings at £7,800 it would now be £9,300 albeit with new suspension and Stop&Start. (n)

It's amazing how much it is going up ... it was £8500 only 2 months ago when I was looking.

Its funny, most people on this forum always say that its not worth going for a Pop and that they should be going for Lounge or Sport. It's weird considering that the price that most people paid for their Lounge/Sports is less than a current Pop.

People should carefully consider their choices and alternatives before purchase - but even if the 500 cost £14,000 for a Pop - people would still pay it.

Start and stop has its benefits - and would push the 500 onwards on regards to their competitiors - assuming they can get it working that is

I haven't come across anyone who has paid less than £9300.00 for a Lounge or Sport.

All the time there's a waiting list the price will continue to rise.

And it always was £1500 between the Pop and Lounge/Sport IIRC.

Also the VAT increase accounts for £200 of £9,300.

IMHO I think this will be the last significant price increase for a while. With all the VAT increases etc I think this will have a steadying effect on the overall demand for 500's. But whilst demand remains high then they can continue to increase prices.

Could be wrong of course! :D
I would think that this is the highest the prices will get and perhaps Fiat will have to start to offer discounts on the 500 as they indeed were before scrappage came along.

To put the price rises into context, the list price of our 1.2 500 lounge ordered in May was £10,720 with leather, side rubbing strips and 16" alloys yet today £8 less buys you the same car with none of the options. The 500 as nice as it is, isn't going to convince a lot of people to part with nearly 11k for a 1.2 even if it is the top spec one. Now of course VAT is partly to blame but at the end of the day a pound is a pound to a customer.

This isn't so bad. I paid about £700 more than maxi did, two weeks before they were officially launched for a 1.4 lounge with leather, rubbing strips and O spoke 16". That's just shy of two years ago.

Yes but now that same car would cost you £13120 which is a full £2400 more than what I paid. Is a 1.4 sport/lounge with leather and 16's really worth that much?

well at least your investment is increasing in value.:)

Very true :) I think the fact that the 500 is a good car and people aren't feeling the need to get rid soon after means that there aren't many used 500's for sale compared to Mini's for instance. Not sure what i'd do if I got the opportunity to sell our car for what it cost or very close.

Not a joke........on top of the £700 price rise Diesel up by £900....start price for 500c Lounge £16.100!
Why did you pay that much for a 3 door Panda that someone has attacked with a can opener and put some slightly different bits on?

This car is getting silly now.

Edit: Although the configurator is currently giving me £NaN as a price. (elec engy joke) This price shouldn't be allowed for the 500, it's damn right!
