Anyone tried their free MOT?

no, and i wont be now because, and i quote, "the free MOT doesn't apply to confused.com customers because we give the maximum online discount". i said they cant do that because it is advertised on the confused site as including the free MOT. they said they cant be held responsible for inaccurate details on the confused website. nice. they did say that i get 10% discount at any kwikfit branch. i wont repeat what i said but i know it wont be getting used for 'training purposes'.

even worse my policy did not include 3rd party cover on other cars (first time i've ever had that problem on any policy, i wonder what else isnt included?!). i rang up to complain and was greeted with the usual **** ****** service. i said i wanted 3rd party cover or i would cancel. they said they cant do it on that policy and i needed to start a new policy, which would cost £58 extra, however they would refund me £20 of that as an extra discount, but only if i paid the whole lot first, they cant simply take £38. (they couldnt give me a reason why)

so i said i wanted to cancel. no problem they said, i'll only be charged £25 for the week i was insured. problem with that is the extra i'd have to pay for the next cheapest company would mean i ended up paying more in total than if i paid the £38 extra. so i decided to pay them the extra and stay, but i must say i was very unhappy with the service, and this wasnt even calling the claim line so god knows how bad that will be.

for the first time in my life i feel concerned that my insurance isnt worth the paper its printed on. thankfully i have 14 days from the date my second policy begun to cancel so i'm trying my best to get a quote that will be equal to or only a tad more expensive so i can get insured with a real company and get away from these scam merchants asap.

unfortunately, sometimes you only get what you pay for.

Jug, have you tried moneysupermarket.com it's the only comparison site where I have found quotes from reputable insurers that beat people like Esure. Recently saved someone £26 on a fully comp policy that was only £200 in the first place.

I've only used them once and it was a good experience. I had a Slow puncture in my rear drivers side tyre and got it fixed for £17 and they didn't even mark my alloys despite them being 205/17/40 profile :). Wouldn't use them for anything else like .

 most garages do FREE puncture repairs(assuming the puncture isn't on sidewalls)

Kwik Fit used to do free repair, but not any more...so did lots of local places, but they all seemed to have given up last time I rang round. Sure thats not the same elsewhere though.

I have had a few free repairs at a few garages (not KF) in the past, and nearly always gone back in the futre for something else, so the good service thing does work (y)

KF did price match a set of pirelli's against a local companyt for me, but a week later and not even a call.....so i rang up and they said they can't match the price any more :bang: Didn't even tell me! SO I went back to the local garage, like I should have done in the first place (can't remeber why I didn't now)

I've tried confused.com and gocompare in the past, they've never beaten moneysupermarket.com for me. Really is down to individuals circumstances I guess.

Be careful of slagging off somebody in a public forum..usually two sides to an argument, even if the crew in question are a bunch of useless t*ssers.

Had to take the coupe in K Fit once to have the tracking done. Big mistake. It came out with the steering like cotton wool and bouncing on the tyres. They'd decided to inflate all the tyres to 45psi and track the car as a Tipo because their machine didn't list a coupe.

Complained:

'Well mate. Its a heap of Italian Crap anyway, so it don't matter what setting we used, handling is still S*it.'

Wrote to Tom in Edinburgh. No reply. Surprise surprise.

i'm not joking, i'd have stamped on his head there and then. we have soft laws in this country, you might as well take advantage. just remember to leave one eye in tact or it'll be a gbh charge.

Don't usually post but gotta throw in a word for quickfit here

My backbox failed the MOT for being held up by wire and my dodgy soldering. Fair enough but it was only the mounts that had rusted not the box, the garage wanted £60 to replace the whole thing, wouldn't just reweld it for me. Asked in at quickfit (was the next place down the road) 5 mins welding later the bloke did it for £5!!!

Don't think the garage were too impressed when I took it back in for its free retest and they had to pass it, few red faces there. Still the point is it just depends on your experience of it, they only get stick for being such a big chain, problems can happen anywhere.

Dr_Pepper, I,m glad you had a good experience at KF. Unfortunately not all KF outlets are so customer focused as the one you went to. Personally I wouldn't go back to KF if they were giving stuff away, its an issue of trust for me. If they think Italian cars are cr*p they don't deserve your custom.
