Knocking noise

i've got a strange knocking noise on my 1.4 bravo. The noise is there when driving and when stationary with the engine ticking over, the knocking increases with the revs however over about 1700 revs it seams to disappear, also when i press the clutch in the noise stops. Its not loud just a faint knocking noise.
Anyone got any ideas?

if its broke fix it, if it brakes again burn it!

its a 1998 but its only done 37000.

Low milage rarely means low wear.
